Delivery

After asking cadillac about the delivery schedule, today's response was:

At this time, I am unable to determine when shipping will begin. Shipping information differs by region and dealerships. As information becomes available on shipping, I will attempt to contact you.

I was told by "assistant" that yes the car was started on June 28th but for further information on the delivery to contact the dealership.

IMO a poor response!:bs

they just want to make sure all of the bugs are out of it. :confused

dishearting news

I just sawa letter from Jay Spenchian, Director Global Products Marketing, sent to all dealers dated Aug 1, 2003. In his letter he write "The XLR start of system fill at the Bowling Green facility was June 16th. As of Monday, July 28th the facility is producing XLRs at a rate of 5 per day and at full acceleration, production will be 22 per day. Senior management continues the evaluation of the XLR directly off the production line. Additionally the XLR captured test fleet of pre-production is still under evaluation by members of the XLR engineering, development and manufacturing teams. Although an exact date to begin shipping to dealers has not has not been set for the XLR, we expect the vehicles to begin arriving in dealerships early this fall."

Sounds as if there maybe some quaility problems, or just another stall. To quote a great american Popeye " I maynot be a Doctor but I'm beginng to loose me patients"

I have patience, but unfortunately, patience is a virtue that offtimes goes unrewarded. :-(

I know that my car went in to production on june 28th. Wonder if I will receive by Oct. 1.

Order Tracking

Just received letter from Cadillac General Manager who had me sign up for "order tracking" of the buildout of mine.

Considering the one I tried, I don't think you guys will be disappointed. It's an amazing touring car.

JUST RECEIVED CALL FROM DEALER AND HE WILL HAVE XLR FOR TEST DRIVE ON 8/28-30. UNFORTUNATELY, I LEAVE ON CRUISE FOR 2 WEEKS ON 8/28 SO ONLY IF HE GETS BY 8/27 WILL I GET TO DRIVE:cry

HOPEFULLY IT WILL HAPPEN.

Letter I received yesterday from Cadillac

Yesterday, I received a package from Cadillac. It contained a letter from Jay Spenchian, Cadillac XLR Marketing Director and a hardbound book (coffee table style) about the XLR, hand signed by the author.

The letter stated, in part, "The [Bowling Green] facility will continue to build pre-production XLRs through the early part of this summer and is scheduled to begin production of the Neiman Marcus Edition XLR models in the mid-August timeframe, with an approximate late September delivery date to your dealership."

Please keep in mind that I'm getting one of the Neiman Marcus XLRs. I don't know if anyone else will get a book or a scale model. I'd be interested to hear from people who are expecting production models of the XLR to see if they get any "gifts" from Cadillac.

Order tracking

I also received the letter about "order tracking." The weird thing about the letter is that it had the color of my car wrong. It showed Xenon Blue when it should have been Ultra Violet. I went to the Web site and entered my information but have gotten no e-mails back from them, not even confirming my signing up for the service. Are these guys messed up or what?

Neiman Marcus

I too have a Neiman Marcus XLR on order and like you received the model last December and the "Coffee Table" book yesterday along with the letter telling me that instead of receiving my car on the promised delivery date of August 19, it would now be "scheduled for late September". Good Luck! It sounds to me as if Cadillac is having trouble with the jillions of parts and electronics and doesn' really know when. All we can do is hope and also hope that when we do get delivery -- IT WILL BE GREAT!

XLR delay

My name is Budd i live in fl. I have a friend that on engineering for the Vette drive train at the proving grounds. He told me today that there is a stop for gear noise. No production and all built cars are in Quarentine. The Neiman-Marcus cars have not been built! The red engineering team is working with Gertrag to find a fix. They are working 24/7. I have #3 on the list here for black with neutral. i only know what my man says!!!! I wish it was better news!!!!

Budd, thanks for the update. Prehaps you should make this a new thread so that everyone will see it?
