Has anyone on here ever dealt with D3 Cadillac in Signal Hill, CA? I've been talking to these people for months about some performance products which they claim to have developed for the XLR-V, but they just can't ever produce anything for sale.

They have a fancy website and claim to be leaders in the engineering and development of performance products for Cadillacs but can't seem to deliver.

we had a cadillac meet there last year for their grand opening, so it's a start up company and their main focus is the CTS. I talked to them several times for a few months afterwards about using my V for prototypes, but didn't feel comfortable in their abilities. I think they are still struggling to get products into production but I have high hopes for them

I agree with 1_XLR. I to was at the grand opening and was promptly told to park my V in another spot because that was the the woman owners spot and was not so identified. They had no answers for anything. I think they where a little early in their promotion, however the BBQ was great.

Thanks for the feedback, it seems like they are more on the promise and less on the delivery. They have been promising me their stage I and stage II intake systems for months now and just can't seem to get it together. These were originally to be made out of aluminum but the latest I hear is that they are going to be made out of mild steel. I raised the question of oxidation on the internal components but they said it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe not in sunny California but it sure will be here in the hot, humid midwest.

RedV, I'm curious as to how their ECM chip module worked for you. Were you satisfied with the ease of installation and did you notice a meaningful improvement in performance? Did they specify for you what change in performance characteristics the chip affects (i.e., engine timing, fuel/air mixture, fan temperature settings, etc.)?

ECU install

Chuck
The install is nothing. Cadillac left a nice opening to hide the ECU in. It attaches with double sided tape. The ECU comes with plugs compatible with current O2 sensor. Disconnect plugs at the O2 sensor and plug in ECU input to O2 output and ECU output to original O2 out cable (plugs are keyed to prevent reverse attachment). I noticed a difference in acceleration at 2000 rpm and above. I disconnected ECU and ran dyno on Dynojet Dyno fuel air 10 X 1 without and about 12 X 1 with RWH increase of about 22 and comparable increase in torque.
I believe the only change the ECU makes is the fuel input.
See ya in BG

Short Drink

XLR 1
Based on my knowledge it will be a short drink or we will need a second topic. I prefer option2. However I do plan/hope to have stage 1&2 intakes installed and new dyno results in hand for BG.
I look forward to meeting everone

I just spoke with Craig at D3 and he informed me that they have the stage II air intake system ready to ship (in chrome) but they are still working on the stake I intake. It makes no sense, of course, to install the larger stage II pipes with the stock air intake system. It wasn't clear when they would have stage I ready.

Also, if you are considering installing their stage II system you should know that your engine cover will no longer fit. This is because of the larger diameter intake stage II pipes alongside the supercharger compressor. Since they are chromed I guess you'd probably want to show them off anyway, but better to know about this ahead of time rather than after-the-fact.

That’s Interesting!
Craig told me Wednesday my stage 1 & 2 were shipping FED EXP (crinkle black). Have not seen them. Sounds like your info is correct. I am really disappointed!! I was aware of the engine cover problem and was planning a stainless steel cover similar to a custom job I saw on a vet. Thanks for update now I won’t be looking for the fed exp truck.

Design vs. Delivery

Dear "Dr. Design":

I'm sure we can all appreciate the pressure you are under to bring new products to the marketplace. After all, that's why you are in business in the first place. Customers don't pay for product design, they pay for product delivery.

The problem that I've been having, and I suspect others on this Forum have too, is that you have been promising products for an extended period of time now and have failed to deliver. Since early June you've advertised your stage I and stage II air intake systems for the XLR-V. Now it's late August and they still aren't available. If you don't have the products you advertise on your website and won't have them for an unspecified period of time then you should say so, right on your website. Don't mislead us in to believing that products will be available "any day now" when, in fact, you have no idea when they will be available.

Unfortunately you've missed a great opportunity to show off some of your design ideas at the upcoming Bowling Green meet. Maybe you'll have something that we can show at next year's get together. Hopefully by then you'll have a Dr. Delivery.
