Hi there,
this morning I had my Corsa puting on by my dealership.
The sound of this system is fantastic, now I know what I always was missing since I´ve sold my 02 Vette (had Corsa exhaust) on it too.
At iddle it`s almost stock but when you push it this Northstar got now such a wonderfull sound, unbelievable!!!!
I`m real glad I made the decision to buy this system.
Installation took exactly 1 hour and all was without any problems.
The next days I´ll see if there is any increase of power when I take it out on the Autobahn. Hope to beat my 278 kph (172 mph) what I did without the Corsa.
I´ll let you know!

March for my Ultra Red

Glad your happy with Corsa Hans,
I had new headlights put in today and adjusted higher than normal. For those who don't know, on the inside of the fender you can see what looks like a funnel with an allen wrench opening at the bottom. This is the only adjustment screw to raise or lower the lights. (very easy)There is none for horizontal unless you shim the housing before tightening the screw that hold it in place. I think they are best left where they fit best.
Sad news Hans. My salesman tells me I'm second on the list, not first, and the new ones are due in January but my Ultra Red won't be in until March, maybe late February. According to him, all 250 are allocated. If I find a Platinum at MSRP somewhere else, I will try to buy it, but can wait if necessary.

Hello Bob,
how was the VIP car show?

Did you hear the price of the XLR V???? On Cadillacforums and even now here they say the price will be 100 K - I tell you that I don`t buy it for this price. That would mean a Euro price of about 100-110 K and I´m not willing to pay this.
If this is true maybe I move back to a Z06 Vette but first I keep my Corsa-Dream-Machine.
What do you think about the 100K for the V?

Well, my friend,

I think the auto show was a prelude to this weekend for the public, but I have some interesting news.
They had an infra Red V at the show along with an infra Red XLR. I didn't like the color and I would change the color to Platinum if I get it. I will not be paying $100,000 for it either, nor will I be paying over $90,000. It's just not worth it.
What I did see was Volvo's new C-70 Hartop convertible with a regular back seat. (car is awesome with the top up.) It's an absolutely beautiful car, especially in the silver light blue paint. Talk about trickery? the top has 5 sections that fold in the trunk in 23 seconds. I asked a rep from Volvo how much and said about $39,000 which I can't believe given the top alone. It has a five cylinder, 215 hp turbo charged engine which was a big discouragement. Maybe there'll be a bigger choice of engines when it arrives around May. I to am looking at my options. Don't know if I need a hot rod anymore at my age. All I can do is get into trouble with 443 hp, then who knows, maybe I buy a Z06.
I'm not a happy camper over this news, but will have a price by the 15th when my dealer comes back from the Vegas show. Hell, that's next weekend.

Confirmed $100,000

Well Hans,
Just came back from my dealers and confirmed the $100,000 for the V, but they do have a mark up of 12% for the XLR and 16% on the the V, but with only 3 allocated to my dealer, I don't know if he will discount it off MSRP.

He has 5 deposits and has ordered 5, but in truth, doesn't expect to get the other 2 unless another dealer cancels their allocation. He will be getting one in January, March and June. I will be the March one and I changed the color to platinum with shale interior. I just don't care for the infra red at all. At some point I will have to sit down with them and at least try and haggle the price down if I can. They don't expect very many, if any will go overseas.

:thumbs Hi Bob, light platinum/shale yeah, this would be my color too. Good choice!!!!!
I know from GM-Europe that the Vette Z06 will be here in Germany about Nov/Dec and they will have about 25 XLR V`s in the first quarter of 2006. We`ll wait and see.

I'm with you, Hans. US$100K is more than I'm willing to pay for an XLR that only has three color choices.

:bs

We'll see how long the price stays in the stratosphere.....

25 XLR V's to Europe?...............that's 10% of the V's being made. The'll probably go to all the oil rich country's. I can't imagine getting anything off this car with 2 other people waiting in the wings with a deposit, just in case someone cancels. I just hope I use my head on this one. I can't buy it just so Hans can drive a V next summer, that's for sure.

Corsa Exhaust

Hello Hans:
Glad you like your Corsa Exhaust.
I knew you would be delighted with it, as I am.
My only regret was not doing a dynamometer test, before & after installation.
Seat of the pants tells me that the engine is more responsive with the Corsa.
Just wish I could prove it.
Anyway, the sound is subliminal and greatly increases driving pleasure.

Best Regards,

Brooks

Hi Brooks, you were so right, this Corsa system is just great. The best thing I could do!!!! Thanks again!
Since it`s mounted on I`ve made about 1200 km (750 miles) and as you might know I got my XLR with the stock exhaust up to 278 kph (172 mph) but now, with the Corsa on I made 289 kph (179 mph) isn`t that good?
Sorry that you don`t know how good a XLR feels in the region between 120 - 175 mph. No oil-use between changes, I`ve only used a little oil on the first 3000 km but now it`s gone.
Weekend comes soon, have a nice one

Harry,
179 MPH. Wow!
The Corsa exhaust added 7 MPH to your previous top speed.
I would guess that the engine has to be putting out at least 30 more horsepower to accomplish this. When you consider wind drag at those velocities, adding 7 MPH
is really significant.
Yes, you're right. I will never experience the capability of my XLR's performance in the U.S.

I could probably do it on the road from L.A. to Las Vegas, but the Highway Patrol would eventually catch me and the ticket would cost at least $500.00 plus, who knows what increases to my auto insurance policy.
It's interesting that we build cars capable of exceeding the speed limit by over 200 %, yet cannot enjoy their performance.

Years ago, while stationed at Ramstein AFB, a friend of mine had a Chrysler 300 HP Hemi engine shipped to him and he put it into his 1960 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
We had great fun trolling for Mercedes on the Auto-Bahn. He would drive on the outside lane until the Mercedes would approach behind him and flash his lights.
He would then yield the lane and alllow the Mercedes to pass. Then, he'd step on the throttle and leave the guy in the dust.
Great fun.

I can also remember when German citizens almost revolted over the proposed speed limits to the Auto-Bahn. Thankfully, it was overturned. Their argument, while ridiculed in the mainstream press, was that, reducing the speed limit would impair the reaction time that is only experienced by high speed driving.

Not so in the U.S.
We recently got our National Speed Limit of 55 MPH., boosted to an amazing 70 MPH.
Maybe I'll ship my XLR to Germany so I can troll the Auto-Bahn for Mercedes.

What do you think?

Borla did before and after dynos when they made my system and claimed a 27 HP pick up. I would imagine the Corsa is similar.

We'll never go as fast as Harry, since our cars are governed at 155mph and exports are not :cry

Hi Brooks,
yeah bring it over and I´m still not sure if the US medel is limited to 155 mph. I don`t think so, is nobody of you XLR drivers like to find that out??? :confused
I know Bob (standby) had his up to 143 mph but than his daughter who sat beside him stoped him from going faster :rolleyes
For me the car feels more stable the faster you go. Was today in Nürnberg and had 60 miles Autobahn, well Friday is very heavy traffic but still had it a couple times up to 264 kph ( 164 mph)
Next Wednesday I go to Luxenburg and you might still know Kaiserslautern - Saarbrücken and inbetween is Ramstein. I let my Baby fly.
Brooks, if you like to have some pics of my Corsa-XLR just give me your Email adr.
I always try to post some photos but always get an "file is too large".

Have a nice weekend

Hello 1 XLR,
why don`t you check it out if your XLR is limited to 155 mph? I think you`ll get it faster, OK analog might stops at 160 mph but HUD will show further.
As you know the analog speedo stops on mine by 260 kph but I love the HUD because I´ll get it there much higher.
Just DO IT :glol

Hans,

You need to take the pictuers into photoshop or some pic managing program and reduce the size.................or.............upload a pic into a website on the internet and then use

this to insert the website with the picture. It's not easy but if you work at it I know you can do it. Germans can do anything.

Harry,
I don't know how many times I have told you it is limited to 155.....
and I don't know how many times I've been 155....MANY!!
If the car went faster....I would take it faster!
The DIC actually reads " MAXIMUM SPEED 155 MPH"
Do I need to take a picture for you??

We took the C6 out today for a quick run - I finally discovered that with the package I have (auto W/"performance Rear Axle) the "overdrive" (4th gear) shift point arrives at 155. We had to back out at 170 but it was still pulling. :thumbs

Just thought I'd throw that out there for the hell of it.................

Hi 1 XLR
Ooops, I didn`t know you have tried it but now I do!!!!
But one thing is sure now, the export model is not speed-limited.
