No RedV, he's talking about just the top grill which has nothing to do with the bottom one where the radar unit is for the adaptive cruise control. Jean had the chrome grill put on her new Blue Bunny that she bought in BG at Martin Cadillac, so they do make the chrome grill right from the factory.

I think a metal grill will keep your active cruse controll from working.

What you need to order is the grill for one of the special editions like the Star Black that came with a chrome grill. You will notice from the prices that the chrome grill like the Star Black is more expensive. The only problem is you will need to paint the lower portion to match your car since the color strip under the grill is part of the assembly. You may be able to use your existing painted strip - I'm not sure how it is attached to the grill, only that it comes as an assembly.

Good luck!

i have contacted my local dealership about the chrome grill in the platinum edition xlr but they could not give me a part number. I want a chrome oem grill (not v) for my xlr. Any help???
The part number for a chrome grille with a black bar is 25938126. Order it from gmpartsdirect for $295.75 plus shipping at $10.81, plus handling at $64.61

installation

How difficult are these to install? what tools required and est. length of time? I have a black car, so im assuming no painting is required based on the description of the part. Does it come with the cadillac emblem, or do you retain that from the stock one?

IT COMES WITH THE EMBLEM. THE BLACK UPPER PLUGS COME OUT EASY. THE SCREWS UNDER THE COVER COME OUT WITH A TOREX SCREWDRIVER. IN OTHER WORDS THE TOP PART COMES OUT IN MINUTES.
THE HARD PART IS GETTING THE LOWER TABS OUT WITHOUT BREAKING THEM. IF YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE OLD GRILLE, JUST PRY AND PULL UNTIL THEY POP LOOSE. ONCE THE TOP IS LOOSE YOU CAN SEE THE LOWER TABS EASY.
PUT DUCT TAPE ON THE BUMPER AND BESIDE THE GRILLE SO THAT YOU WILL NOT SCRATCH THESE AREAS, WHILE YOU ARE FIGHTING TO GET THE LOWER PART OF THE GRILLE OUT.
THE NEW ONE GOES IN, IN MINUTES. JUST PUT IN PLACE AND BANG IT WITH YOUR FIST AT THE BOTTOM AND THEY WILL ALL SNAP IN PLACE. THEN JUST PUT THE SCREWS BACK IN PLACE AND THEN INSTALL THE COVER AND PUSH IN THE PLASTIC RETAINERS.
YOU WILL NOW HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CHROME GRILLE.
