Has anyone ever used a car bra on an XLR? :confused

I have seen what a BRA can do to the paint job, but a lot of high speed, long distance highway miles can be pretty punishing to the front end too.

I've shopped around and have yet find a source. Comments?

Actually, that was one of the problems I had seen before. Those BRAs rub the front raw....

In the case of cars, the younger ones need them and the older ones, you don't care anymore.

Bra for XLR..can be done

most of us in arab region use shampoo...yes they use shampoo all over hoods and front bumper...therefore only sands sticks and make a shield to prevent any hard object to penetrat the paint.

i heard also there is spraying can which sprays only soft material on the car to protect it ..but i dont know it and never saw it before

some people use greese as well..

hope that might help if there is no bra

but if you are realy like to have one...why not to go to uphostlry shop and fabricate one...you can be the first man with XLR and playboy bra on...make it red :)....jk

Hope that i helped a bit..

bras

This is a tough subject I know what i REALLY want to say but for some reason since its sunday I will behave. Just dont count on that in person!!!
Anyways! the product discussed above is a MYLAR type clear plastic. I was not aware it now came in kits. I have a lot of it on my triple black RUF. If i did not have it on the front of the rear wheels Id have 50% of the paint gone in only a few thousand miles. That was one of the reason I painted the car again. New Porsches that I have seen all have it across there hoods and other vital areas. But it is not real easy to remove, and at high speeds like I mostly drive over 100 tiny stones will still cheep the plastic and the paint. Its a trade off no matter what. Bobs Idea of the Blue painter tape works especially on blue paint! I guess you could find some tapes similar colors to your car but youd never want to leave them on real long because even they get difficult to remove. I guess its all a personal choice. I can tell you this though if you do get chips and you use a pin or a tiny toothpick to touch up the chips and you do tiny drops at a time and build them up, you can go over them later with 2000 wet paper and buff em out and youll never see the chips. It will blend right in but it is very tedious work. Jim

Bras

Thanks to all for the ideas and experience.

The thought of smearing shampoo or grease on the front of my XLR isn't a plesant thought, nor sticking plastic film on the front. I've had 4x4 and sedans with the plastic on high-impact areas (wheel wells, etc.), but having it on the front in large areas does not appeal to me.

Highway debri and sand are a problem, but having lived in FL for a few years, I use to dread the two times a year the love bugs would come out. I had one vehicle with pits in the paint within a week due to their corrosive "juices."

I'll keep looking for a source of some removable protection. One that can let it breath around town and one that will protect her under rough conditions; kind of like a "sports bra". :cool

I won this stuff on eBay, haven't tried putting it on yet, but it sounds way better than a regular bra. They say it will last for at least five years. After that you take it off and sell the car with the nose looking like new--we'll see. . .

Pretty cheap too!

Floyd,

I also bought this on Ebay but haven"t put it on yet. If you do it soon let me know how it goes. I'll do the same if I get energetic this week and decide to do it. I plan on only using it to go to BG and back home and then removing it.

3M Protective Coating

I had the cadillac dealer in WA put this on for me for a grand. They brought in a specialist that does lots of their corvettes and the like. It coveres the hood up about 16 inches, the insides of the door handle recesses, the door edges, the mirrors, and the front of the bumper. It's washable and waxable and is barely noticable if you don't know it's there. It has saved me a few chips already since I use mine as a daily driver.

Ben.

(It's on the car in my posts/pics over in the pictures of rides thread.)

I did several searches and I could find an EXTREME CITY. I'm looking for a website link too.

I made the mistake of having "Bra" in the search string.....took that out quick.
