The XLR is on the next generation Corvette frame, so it is different than any Corvette currently on the road. I quote from the big brochure:

Composed of aluminum, magnesium and other advanced meterials, these elements help maintain XLR's low weight while providing resistence to torsional and bending forces.

Two 170 inch hydroformed steel perimeter rails run the length of XLR's frame. Each provides exceptional strength in its simplicity, deftly doing its task with 93% fewer components.

end quotes...

I hope that helps.

Let me ask you how solid does the XLR feels either with the top down or up?

Have you felt cowl shake or vibration in the cabin?

From what i have heard the structure is so rigid that there is virtually no vibration transmited to the cabin regarless of how bad the road is.......

Great to hear that, i would not be surprise if this is the most rigid roadster in the market.....

I think GM is waiting for the debut of the C6 in january to make public the enhancements they made to this chassis.....
