if they are squealing because the pads are glazed over, then the rotors and pads need to be replaced undre warranty. there are many threads here concerning this issue. It varies, but most people that had the rotor problem, myself included, experiencied it at about the 5000 mile range

If they are squealing as intended when the brakes are worn down, then 17k is not totally unusual depending on how you drive.

IMO there's not enough breaking for the power this car produces....they corrected that with the V
