Hi,

This is David Borla from Borla exhaust. We are in the process of designing a high performance cat-back and header for the XLR and we are looking for XLR owners who might want to assist with testing and development.

If you own an XLR, live in the area of Oxnard, California and are interested in receiving a free Borla cat-back and header for your XLR please contact me at [email protected] . We will also provide dyno, flowbench and sound testing data for your XLR.

Thanks

I have a lot of questions, some of which were addressed in my e-mail to you but I expect others would like to know more about your product. Would you kindly post some basic information on information on what a cat-backs and headers are and do as well as your particular product.
The reply I received via e-mail... The manual infers the warranty might be voided by this kind of thing, but it says you can't even change the tires!

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the response. We build high performance, aftermarket exhaust systems and headers for motor vehicles. Our products provide performance gains, an increase in fuel economy and sound enhancements. We take a great deal of pride in the sound characteristics of out exhaust systems and I assure you that our exhaust is not loud and is especially quiet inside the cabin. The sound enhancements are of a tonal nature rather than a decibel level. The sound will differ from your stock exhaust because it has a distinctly different tone (deeper and throatier), not because it's louder.

It will not void your warranty. Click below. http://www.impalaclub.com/naisso/magmoss.htm

Please see our website to learn more about what we do. Click below. www.borla.com

Basically, there are no drawbacks to Borla products. Only improvements over stock.

We use the best materials, provide the most power, have the most refined sound and offer a million mile warranty.

What is the full title of the model you have?

Please let me know if you are interested or if I can answer any more questions for you,

Thanks,

David Borla

if i had an xlr, and lived in cali, i'd take this up.
Anyone know if Borla found a test mule for this project?
Mule Here!

We all have our XLRs...... but mine sounds like it looks.....BAD ASS!!
I'm surprised nobody here ever noticed the tips in my pictures....look again!

I had the headers and cat-backs prototyped back in Feburary,
I don't know why they haven't made them available to the public yet,
said they still had some minor details to work out at the time.
It ended up taking 3 weeks to complete, really great people to work with.
Bench dyno showed 19 HP gain, Look great, Sound great, (down shift 3rd to 2nd ba ba baba ....ahhhhh gives me a ........rush) no problems what so ever!
Cadillac computer diagnostics all come up clear.

It is actually nothing radical and not distracting at all from within the cabin.
But if I get on it, in mauel mode.....let's just say the neighbors know when I'm commin home!! :cool

We'll get together soon, you can hear it in Carmel (about the time I hit Pismo :glol )
I'm real interested if anyone else has done the same,
I know other companies have systems already out too

My God, how did I miss that in your photos? Give those guys a call and tell them to stop dragging their feet and give us a price!! :cheers
K&N Filters Needs a Test Mule

BTW - K&N Filters is looking for a test mule for the development of a performance intake for our car. The owner must live in the Southern California area and they will need the car for 5 work days.

If interetsed, contact: [email protected].
You are the man!

Q: What does it cost?

Q: How about a wav file?

I/ they don't know the cost, mine was gratis,
but they expected them to sell for Corvette prices
(almost identical materials, etc)
Headers $1000. + Cat- Back $1000. + instal

Don't know the magic of the wav file, sorry
but you guys would love it, it's awsome!!

BTW
(Borla was even nice enough to throw in a system for my
Dodge Ram since it took them longer than anticipated! $800!!)
I would really be interested in a cat-back system for my car. Hopefully they will be ready for market soon.

I'm aleady running K&N filters in my stock boxes, would be really curious to see what kind of configuration they would come up with for our application.

David,
Let me know if you need another XLR for future R&D on other aftermarket products! I live in SoCal!!

Do yourself a favor & go out and buy one, you won't regret it!! Besides, you can probably charge most of it off to R&D.

Here's a few more pics for this thread
Great pictiures. When will they be willing to sell one to a poor old knuckle-dragging retired cop like me????
