Body Control Module

My # 9 NM XLR has been at the dealer one week today waiting for a replacement Body Control Module. Has anyone else had this problem?
One week ago when we got in and started the XLR it would not shift into gear. It was stuck in park. The door windows did not retract the quarter inch when opened (made it hard to close the door), the gauges all were at "0" and it took several tries to start. Flat bed to the dealer, said it was the BCM and a new one was on order.
Now after many phone discussions with dealer & Cadillac customer service the only information I can get is that it is on order, there is a national back-order situation and it may be in next week (or not).
The '05 BCM will not fit so the dealer can't take one from a car on the floor. Guess they had to redesign them since so much trouble with the '04's.

Didn't Know the 04's had a problem. mine has been trouble free for over 20,000 miles. :lol :rant
Non Acceleration a reprograming issue

Clee85,
What you are experiencing is an issue that affected only a very few early XLR's that were purchased quite some time ago. Being #9 NM Edition your vehicle should be in the 470-500 vin range (can vary since the numbering was not precise). There has been a reprograming of the computer that should take less than an hour.

Earlier XLR's that exhibited a non or barely moving condition, usually when first starting and the put in to gear would need to have the reprograming done.(below) is the number operation. If you had contacted Onstar they would have told you to turn off the engine & restart it, the issue would have been temp. eliminated and it would run fine.
T5591 - ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - REPROGRAM

Your dealer has the ability to simply reprogram the computer and the issue WILL be eliminated.

Allen, Thanks for the reply to my earlier posting. My problem now is the BODY Control Module - not the Engine Control Module. I had problem with the ECM shortly after delivery of the car in October of 2003. It was temporillary solved as you described by turning the engine off and restarting. Eventually the dealer replaced the ECM. Now we are trying to replace the BCM. It does not seem to recover by restarting. Thanks.

Body Control Module Update

We are now in day 10 with our NM # 9 sitting at the dealer. Latest news is that the replacement BCM will be shipped to the dealer by the middle of next week (more than two weeks after the problem first surfaced). In an attempt to speed things up the dealer removed a BCM from one of the '05 XLR's on his floor and attempted to install it in my XLR. After most of a day, discussions with four Cadillac technicians, and much frustration the truth emerged that a BCM cannot be installed in another XLR after it has been installed in an initial XLR. It seems that it is identified as specific to only one VIN XLR. Soooooo, all we can do is wait until they manufacture one with my VIN on it. Can you believe it? Numerous discussions with Cadillac Customer Service Reps at the 800 number have been less than helpful. All they say we're sorry and we'll keep you updated.

Bcm Replaced

On Tuesday, 12/16 I got my XLR back from the dealer with the BCM replaced and programmed. As near as I can tell everything is now OK -- except for the 15 days the car sat in their lot while Cadillac got the replacement part. I have now spent two days trying to talk with the Customer service Rep. at Cadillac to follow up on his earlier mention that they would discuss remuneration with me. We'll see.

they had my XLR for almost 3 weeks one time and reimbursed
me a full month car payment :)
Cadillac Customer Service has now agreed to "One Month's Car Payment" Works out to be the purchase price divided by 48 months. No amount included for any interest. Haven't seen the money yet but "The check is in the mail!".

I have a 05 XLR and I’m having the same issue my car got rained in and water flooded the floor so the BCM got wet and the car has been laid up ever since I managed to order another BCM module but still can’t find out if they have to have the whole car or can they program the BCM using the Vin# it’s almost impossable to get a straight answer from anyone that’s trying to squeeze a dollar out if you
We really like it when you take the time follow up comment so others reading will know what to expect if they have the same problem
