I heard some discussion on aanother meet at Bob's in Pasadena in November after Thanksgiving. Any details on the time? Last year for the D3 meet I just drove over and back the same day but if this is going to be in the evening I'll get a hotel room.

Kent, We will be in LA for Thanksgiving and will be going over to Bob's Big Boy in Burbank on Friday afternoon. We get there about 3 pm in order to find a parking spot. Every Friday night they have a cruise night. We won't have a XLR, but would be happy to meet up with anyone who can make it. The lot fills up with classic and muscle cars all evening long. We will post more info as the time gets closer. I got together with about 7 other XLRs for lunch there a couple of years ago and the photos were posted on the forum. Jim:party

Yep, count me in, but when you're their for a long time it gets a little boring, so we should find a night club and party:party

You guys are soooooooo lucky on the west coast. The only drive thru here to meet at is the SONIC and mostly pickup trucks.......... A little too far for us to make it. We're farther from Burbank than BG is from you.

Big Boy Bash

Sure wish I could make it to the Bob's Big Boy drive-in. I have fond memories of that first 'store' on Colorado Blvd. in Glendale, CA. Way back when (in the 60s), one of my clients was Robert (Bob) Wian, the founder of Bob's Big Boy.

He was a true gentleman and an early embracer of the then budding, technology movement. He felt his employees were not being honest and were stealing tons from his then 5 locations. He came to me to work out a computerized accounting method that would track his inventory and reduce theft. We did, it worked, and he went on to grow the business, eventually selling out to Marriott.

Even back then, Bob's locations were always a magnet for Wed. night drives. All those muscle cars from the 60s and 70s would clog Colorado Blvd. driving the locals nuts. I must confess that I also joined the crowd, with my 1964 Goat (GTO). Wish I still had that classic.

Anyway, thanks for allowing my memories to come floating back.

Jim,

Which location? http://www.bigboy.com/Locator_City.asp?State=California I'm not seeing Pasadena so I am guessing the Glendale store? Being a holiday weekend I want to get reservations in.

Hey Dave, That truck that delivered that used V in NC would have been perfect for your 64 Goat. It had a name on the side, Nubian, which is a type of goat. Don't suppose that truck hauls goats too, do you?

Big Boy Curb Boy

In the '60s, my second job in High School was at a Shoney's Big Boy in the suburbs of Atlanta. I had the unusual distinction of being a "CURB BOY." If you didn't have it where you lived, it was then very much like a SONIC with the drive-in stalls and call-in orders. I made a lot of tips but didn't wear the roller skates!!!!

Bob, There is a nice steak house next door to Big Boy so we can go over there for dinner and drinks if you want. There are also a couple of nearby nice clubs for after Bob's Big Boy if anyone wants to go. We are staying in the Hollywood area on Friday and Saturday night. Jim:party

Yes, any trip to Calif. would be great! Especially so considering that the weather in CA in November is glorious, and the 2,000+ mile drive out from Indy would shake out any remaining gremlins in my ride.

But then methinks that I wouldn't want to load up the XLR odo with another 4,000miles, heck that's the equivlent of 10 round trips to BG! :)

Hi All,
I am way up here in Canada all by myself. I enjoy reading all the posts and at this time I have very little in the way of things to add as I only have about 500 miles on my 07 V and everything is working well.. I spend about 3 months a yr in Palm Springs but without my V. I would like to come up the Bobs Big Boy in November.Would I be welcome without my car? I am a nice guy that could be talked into buying a coke or two... Not trying to buy my way in but......

Canuckxlr-v or Wayne as I am known to my friends.
