Well, After waiting two years to get my V it looks like I am going to finally see how good the Cadillac body shop is. Yesterday, a beautiful sunny, 77 degree day, a fellow driver comming head on at me decided to turn left in front of me without paying attention. I tryed my best to swirve to miss him, but there was a car behind him so I had to just slam on the brakes and hope for the best. Actually, I almost managed to miss him. However, his rear bumper caught the right front wheel. With a big, BAMB, I hit him.

I was sick. I did not want to get out of the car and see the damage. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Well, with the exception of my XLR-V. Looks like I will need a new bumper cover, fender, wheel, and tire. Not too bad considering the hit it took. To my amazment, none of the lights broke. There was a 3" chunk of the tire missing. BUT, I was able to drive it (very slowly) about 3 miles home. The run-flat with the 3" of sidewall missing, held together and stayed up. It would have been a much worse accident on normal tires as it would have instantly gone flat and keeping the car under controll would have been much more difficult.

Sorry Rick,
I wiped out the whole front end at 5 miles an hour last 4th of July. Relaxed my foot on the brake in traffic. Cost, $10,000, time 3 weeks. They have to chissel off the inner fenders which are glued to the frame with some space age glue. Did a bad job of matching the paint, so they had to paint and blend twice.

Good News Bad News

Rick--the good news is that you're OK. :)

The bad news is that he'll say that you were crazy and hit him in the rear--100% your fault, even though he's practically suicidal. :cuss

Hopefully the tire marks will back your story!:boxing

Funny in that there was 4 witnesses and our local sheriff did a full crash detial report. This included things like measuring the road, reaction times, hit patterns, and one of the most important things was that neither car was hit hard enough to spin it. Appearently that is very important to the cops because it shows speed at impact which in this case was not much. The cops also gave her two tickets and declared her fully at fault.

Anyway, with all of that information, HER insurance company has decided that there is a small chance that I am at fault. So, they have decided to fight the claim. Complete BS. I told them that if that's the game they want to play....fine with me. I then immediately started complaining about lower back pain!!

Friday, Cadillac told me they have everything to start fixing the car with the exception of the tire. THey seem to be very hard to get. I should have it back in 7 days. Not too bad.
