why?

On the XLR, you need a "nose" camera, not a tail camera--you've already got the chimes that speed up when you're within 12" of an object to the rear....:confused

I would prefer the sensors in the nose! You can't see the "contact point" in the nose, until you hear "crunch".

I once chipped the nose, while parking when she was brand new--boy was I annoyed :banghead but, after creaming a deer, the whole nose (and headlight and fender) were replaced/resprayed, so she's pristine now...:yesnod

I'm quite scared to park at a meter in NYC--I can just see some pickup backing up, touching the hood, and leaving me with a crunched pile of fiberglass....:eek Drives the wife crazy while I search to be first in line at a meter at the corner, or right b4 a driveway.

Oh well, its part of the joy of owning a fairly "exotic" car :thumbs

Gee Aviator,
I could have used that back up camera last week when my ass end passed me and I landed on the sidewalk.
I'm still crying

Camera

I think he was looking for one that with the Nav. screen.
I don't know of anyway to hook it up to the system. I don't think there are any inputs on the back of the unit.
This would have been a nice opt. for some people. It had the inputs then you could put the camera up front if you wanted to.

back-up cam

My 07 Escalade has a factory installed back-up cam that displays on the nav screen when in reverse, So the know-how is already there. I agree it would be nice to have in the XLR. I have trouble seeing the LED'S with out getting twisted around in the seat so the are visable in the mirror. Tim

Owwwww!

Guilty as charged. TC/Stabilitrac was off and DIC was quoting, "Service stabilitrac", Took a left from a standing start and lost it. 12k later and two weeks to go to get back the baby gorilla.

My condolences. I wouldn't want to be paying your insurance premium next year. Did you get that 100mph ticket dismissed?

I did get both of mine dismissed. It meant paying the fine anyway, plea of nolo contendre, three months "probation", but no points, and no defensive driving class. Whew!

Settle for that

I would settle for that. Right now it's with the lawyer. I will be sure to post.
It's not going to be a fault insurance claim. I provided my insurance adjuster the information on the stab/TC being off and the fact they can at any time have the information from the black box and the computer. All they have to do is call GM and ask to have the information from both items. They may even go after GM for the cost.

I spoke with a guy over email.

It costs about $500.

You must send the radio in so they can modify it - its not a self-install kit and they will permanently modify the radio.

Its warrented for 1 years parts and labor.

I don't think I'll be doing it, but if you REALLY want a backup camera it may be your only option.

back Up Camera to XLR

Ok Guys, here is a good news and bad news.
XLR Nav radio is the same as SRX. same plugs, wiring, etc.
SRX has a few more wires, the ones equiped with rear seat entertainment. and there are coax cable for the video in and also has audio in as well. then I looked into the XLR wiring diagramm and it was just empty pins. but everything else is indentical.
I have a few customers of mine with XLR's and I askem to give me a car to do some testing, and of course they told me to go to hell.
But this is how it can be done. (90% positive because I've done something like this on different GM Vehicles, and it worked )
need to find an SRX with rear seat entertainment, take radio out of XLR and install it and reprogramm features for the rear seat ent..
then install it back to XLR and reprogramm vin# and then You've got audio/video in. great for video ipods/external dvd players, etc.
if some one wants to do it, I can provide with all chematics, wiring diagramm, original pins.
the cool thing about if works, you can watch movies and use your nav radio while driving :party
also I found tonight that XLR is capable to accept STS remote start FOB key so you can have a remote start. i'm going to try that next week. i found a cadillac technitian, who said there is a big chance that it will work. because he was able to fool computer in the past. we'll see.
I'll let you guys know how it works out

Holy crap!

If you can get the remote start to work - that'd be awesome!
