I'm looking to purchase an Amethyst XLR - what years did they make these?

It seems 2006 was a year for the Platinum Edition - but I seem to remember seeing these in years prior.

In Cars.com - there doesn't seem to be a single amethyst XLR in the country for sale right now.

Help!!!!!

According to the XLR Website, there were 102 Amethyst XLR built in 2004 under the Nieman Marcus special addition program. You'll find the color count in the web link below:

http://www.bowlinggreenassemblyplant.com/2004 XLR Stats.pdf

You can find all the production numbers for the XLR within the Bowling Green website (XLR - "History/Car Info" tab) and selecting the year of interest at the top of the page:

I hope this helped with your question.

Hi coolness,

the color is called "Liquid Amethist" and is a 2007 model:flag

if you don`t mean this one then XLR Ken is right, it`s the 2004 Neiman Marcus.

Ken, I just looked at the chart you put in from the web-site and all colors are named differently according to Cadillac web-site from 2004.

like magnetic red - Crimson Pearl
or black - Black Raven
spiral gray - Thunder gray
shale - Satin Nickel
light tarnished silver - Light Platinum
luxo blue - Xenon blue

:confused :confused :confused

Hans, I too had noticed their color scheme doesn't match the "market" color. I think it's the Engineers against the Marketing Department. The engineering spec no doubt puts a name on it and the Marketing people do studies of what will sell.

For instance, I don't think "light tarnished silver" would sell as good as "Light Platinum" or "black" vs. "Black Raven." I'm sure Lola's Mom would never consider Lola just "black."

They apparently never translated the color names from production to sales. It's a little hard sometimes too when they have somewhat similar colors like "Victory Red" vs. Monterey Red."

Ultra Violet

The only other color that is similar to the Crystal Amethyst of the 2007 Platinum Edition, were the 101 (Retail) Neiman Marcus Editions. That Color was called Ultra Violet and was exclusive to the XLR. The 99 that were available to sell through a phone in call system, sold out in 14 minutes. The other two XLRs were donated for charity Auctions.

To view that info, simply go to:

Allen, Is there a listing somewhere with the Option Codes for the colors you reference, or any other color option one can order? We customers reference Raven Black, Xenon Blue, Thunder Gray, etc. and none are listed on the GM production list.

I was thinking that would be a valid "Rosetta Stone" to the charts that I mentioned on the BG website. EXAMPLE: Per the chart for 2005, there is a code of "19U" for "LUXO BLUE"; being the only blue it must be "Xenon Blue." I'll check my paint code tonight (FYI: paint code is on label attached on back side of small cover in trunk compartment; inside right) to see if I have a match.

Yup...it is called the Service Parts Identification Display or SPID label. This is where all the option codes for your car are located. :)

Yup, that's what I thought, but it's not a match.

The "Service Parts Identification Display or SPID label" on my Xenon Blue 05 lists the color as CC (color coat) as "933L", but the factory color per the production number chart lists a code of "19U" for "LUXO BLUE". No match.

I know the SPID is correct because I just had the dealership paint touch-up guy check it for a match before he did some minor spots this last Monday. The code translation is still a mystery.

Ruth Ann, I guess that`s why Jean`s car is
blaaaaaaaaack staaaaaaaaaaaar:glol

I like my Thunder Gray, especially when the thunder rolls over german Autobahns:glol and doing 170 mph like on this photo. Analog speedo stops at 260 kph but HUD goes further

Hans - I think if your car had wings it would be airborne .... have you ever thought about getting your pilots license .... :D
Air traffic is too tight over Germany and you can`t burn rubber on those machines.

I allways try to get my XLR by 175 mph off the ground but the faster you go with this car the more pressure to the road you`ll get - so, no chance.:glol

Most americans don`t know the high-speed cabability of these cars because you can`t drive them as it`s over here possible.

Soon we`ll fly into Kingman/Az with Bob`s V.:flag
