Has anyone else had a problem with their adaptive cruise control?
Frequently I try to set my cruise control and it comes up with the message: Cruise not ready! What is that all about? :confused I've had it in the shop a couple of times for this and they can't find anything, sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I guess that I will just have to put up with it until they can figure it out. :banghead :(

Jean, I would check out the lower grill to see if you have any feathers blocking the radar unit for the ACC.:seeya Sorry but I couldn't resist, but I might be right about it being blocked. Any excuse to buy a new V to keep up with Kent and Hans.

They coudn't fix my 04 hot console and with that in mind, when they say they can't fix it 3 times, you know what that means.

Seriously Jean, I would be a bit concerned about even using it if it doesn't always function properly. That could be a very dangerous item if it's not working the way it was intended to work.
What do you guys say about this that have Adaptive Cruise Control?
We V guys had to give that up because of the lower metal grille and would think some issues with the power of the V, but I don't know for sure.

I do have ACC, it's just at times it won't set!

I would want it if I had a V.
I am sure you don't always drag race your car or go 100 mph plus.
Well Hans and Bob do but that's a given with these guys but most just like to cruise around and have a great time. This is when it would be nice to have it.
I am sure GM could make it work if they wanted to... Maybe make it a option.

Of all the features, the ACC is one I really don't like. If they would just provide a way to switch between standard and active... I'd be a lot happier with it. Just too many times when I would normally use cruise but the active version is just annoying.

My 2004 recently tried to jerk me to the left and gave a message to check the cruise control. I reset and it happened again two days later. The dealer connected to their computer which told them to replace a module of some sort. I was past 50,000 but it was repaired without charge.

The only issue I've had with ACC was with the headlamp washer hoses falling in between the cruise module and the lens; that made the ACC say something about cleaning the lens. I do like the ACC, but also think it would be nice to set it on "regular" cruise from time to time. Occasionally, road reflectors will register as a car on turns and the system brakes & gives me the collision warning.

The only thing I can think of that might make it "not ready" is if the Stability Control system & ABS aren't ready. I think all systems need to be good to go for the ACC to come on.... Remember, those systems need to pump up after the car first gets turned on- are you trying to use the ACC right after you start it up, or do you get the message after you've already driven a few miles?

On my trip from Washington State to Nebraska toward the end of my trip the ACC stopped functioning. All was well then I stopped for gas and when I got on the road again and resumed the cruise it immediately tripped offline and I received the 'service radar cruise' message. The next stop I cleaned both lenses in the bumper and tried again - no immediate change. After about another hour or so down the road and numerous cycling of the cruise on off set. It started working again.

I objected to the spacing between cars in front, it left to big a gap and around here if you leave 2 inches they try to get into it. It was fun while I had in it in my 04, don't really miss it. I guess Im lucky that I have regular cruise control.

Thanks goglobal, that's exactly what I had to do but it kind of defeats the purpose of the ACC.
I don't mean to brag here, but I was the tester that put my vehicle behind another in normal traffic on city streets and the ACC would go to 8 MPH before disengaging. At that point you just had to put your foot on the brake to bring it to a complete halt. This of course brought up lots of controversy as to my sanity. Yes even in a panic stop, it will put your car on its nose to make it stop.

Just fyi you can close the gap on ACC by stepping on the throttle. This does not disengage ACC. And once you lift your foot off the throttle, ACC re-engaes.

Personally I think ACC is a great feature.
