:flag Hello friends,
last month I´ve made on a 11 day vacation alomost 4000 miles. I started from Germany to French and Spain.
On my first 350 km (217 miles) when I start on a sunday morning I`ve had an avg of 17.9 ltrs/100 km (that`s 13.1 mpg) if you think that`s high, NO because I drove most between 110 - 180 mph.
Through French and Spain, allowed there is 120 kph ( 75 mph-spain) and French, allowed there 130 kph (81 mph) - I did mostly around 160 kph (100 mph) and when I`ve reached Alicante/Spain, my destination the avg got down to 11,6 ltr/100 km (thats 20.2 mpg).

After some troubles I have had about a half year ago, some of you knows (with oil-leaks on front of the engine) my car just runs fantastic since then.
NO PROBLEMS with nothing and oil consumption was almost nothing, about a quart of the showing of the dip stick - that`s OK.

Operating of top, about 50 times - perfect! (even by downhill operation)

One wonderfull side-affect, I guess more than 100 people took some photos of my car, with cameras or handys, even while driving or when the car was parked.

What a great car:flag

11 DAYS???
Did your wife follow behind in another vehicle with all the luggage?:glol
No Mike, the trunk isn`t that small, one big suit case and two bigger bags fits easy in the trunk. Two persons no problem!
We drove alot top down with our baggage at the hotel-room!

If my two kids would have come along I would have take my DTS.

Harry, I got that same response when I lived in Germany with my 72 vette and my big harley full dress. on occasion, when I parked my bike, it would be difficult to get back to it because of the people standing around it.
Leaving tomorrow for Colorado Springs and that will be 5k trip by the time I get back..... :party :party

Hi Hans. Have been following your escapades for a long time. I Was one of the first one in California to get an Xlr in Sept 2003. It only got 3000 miles on it . So far with no problems what so ever. The only time it went to the dealer is for recalls. Other cars that I love to drive is My wife Audi. Plus others in my stable. Just got back from Pebble Beach Concourse. Was judging Post war Delahayes As I am very familiar with. I won Best in show there with my 1937 135 M Rst By Figoni et Falaschi the year 2000. Have been going there for 35 years mostly showing and Judging. Going back to your trip to Spain? You went true my native Basque country. It is a beautiful ride true there now with very nice freeways And country sides. My favorite sport car? 1953 Nash Healey Rdst By Pinin Farina. Keep on writing. Love to hear what you have to say. Always upbeat about your car. My and only dealer I go to Wayne Stead Cadillac in Walnut Creek California. They always ask if I want a loaner

Most pictures of my car was tooken when my wife and me was sitting at a cafe near the beach and my XLR was parked right across the street.
Did you had the 427 0r the 454 in your 72 Vette?

Hi Jacqueshar, as you followed I write down the bad things with my car but also the good things. Half year ago I was very close to sell my XLR and get me a different nameplate but now I`m happy I did not.
After this big motor-oil leak problem I`ve had I put about 10.000 km on it (6000 miles) and anything works now just perfect. The service department at my dealership did a great job:thumbs

You really own some nice machines, how did you like the Ferrari 250 GTO? or the Duesenberg?

Age are just numbers and your always as old as you feel and I think you feel a lot younger than your two nzmbers show, right?

Have a nice weekend
Hans
