Canadian $$

That is also Rs 3,666,000 (Indian Rupees). Gas is roughly $9 per gallon there too. This is probably off topic so I may get in trouble. Check out the "Road to Dehradun" photo that I took in June - foothills of the Himalayas.

Different kinds of road hazards: Elephant, bullock cart, rickshaw, Vespa, madhouse Maruti driver, and a Lorry.

SL500 vs XLR Price

Not sure where you're going?? They've got socialized medicine up there, too.

I think the difference in MSRP between the XLR and the SL500 is around $15K which puts the SL just north of $90K. Around here, they talk some suckers into paying a premium above that to get in the SL.

In my comparison, the XLR wins. :thumbs

Comparable SL500

If you go to the MB website and price out a SL500 that has comparable options (there are an amazing number that you need to add to equal the XLR), I came up with around $105,000. Options not included in the $90,000 MSRP -- an extra $3000 for adaptive cruise control, $1450 for handsfree communication, $1000 for rear parking assist, $1000 for keyless (fob) function, $880 for a wood shift knob and steering wheel and $660 for remote tire monitor. Also $600 for Sirius satellite radio (isn't the XMonly $325 on the XLR).

Options

Some of the options that would drive the cost up that high would include things "not' on the XLR.

I included only things that would completely match. So my number would be very conservative.

Your number was probably to get every option that the XLR has, but would have make the SL a tad nicer.

In any case, its around $30,000, not the $15,00 some state.

Standing corrected...

Comparing feature for feature you are absolutely correct. I did the same math when I was making the cost comparison as well.

I think M-B even has an adder for metallic paint...

I guess the only leg I have to stand on is that one CAN buy a stripped down SL500 for about 15K more than the XLR.

After making the comparison, it is hard for me to imagine how anyone would pick the SL - especially after driving them both.
