I drove the car on the freeway then the temp gauge suddenly dropped to cold and stayed there and the heater started blowing cold air. Coolant level is perfect, no leaks, but there's a whirring sound coming from under the hood. Is this bad news, like a faulty water pump?

in the summer my a/c blows hot. we should meet. Sounds like either a blockage or the pump may be starting to go. Could be the control valve to open the coolant line. I will see what I can find. hopefully someone else can hop in if they have had the same problem

Had that happen to my 05 XLR. Dealer changed my thermostat. If the temperature gauge isn't reading the outside temperature correctly, your heat/ac won't work correctly.
