My boyfriend is supposed to pick up a 2007 XLR-V tomorrow.
The car has less than 5000 km on it.(less than 3200 miles)

Today I found a print out of the history of the car.

It says that at 500 km they replaced the steering column though the salesman says that in fact the steering column was ordered in for this car but it was not installed as no mechanic logged any time for it.

Another thing is the left glass, quarter,folding top (I think that's the little window atttached to the roof) got replaced 3 times.

There is an entry for "costumer concern not duplicated--electrical".
(does it mean the car has electrical problems?)

They also changed:
-rear wheel bearing and hub
-arm assembly,front control,lower,left
-folding top motor

It seems to me that a lot went wrong in this car's less than 5000km history.
I am kind of concerned about the repeated replacement of the left glass and find it odd that the history mentions replacing the steering column if it didn't get replaced.

( I drive a 10 year old Sentra that I drive everywhere (like Northwest Territories and back),it's got nearly 200 000 km on it and I hardly ever had to replace anything except tires,breaks and fluids)

I'd love to hear what anybody else thinks about this history.
My boyfriend really wants this car.

There are always problems with the xlr most of us grin and bare it for the love of the car. Just make sure their is a good dealer and qualified mechanic nearby that is certified to work on the xlr. good luck......

There is no way to compare the reliability of a XLR-V to a Sentra or to any standard sedan for that matter. This is a very complex limited production high performance vehicle which has a lot more sophisticated systems than a 10 year old car from any manufacturer. I would definately not recommend buying one if I was expecting the kind of reliability needed for a daily driver unless I had a good local Cadillac dealer with a certified XLR technician available and their willingness to provide a loaner car when the XLR is in the shop. Extended warranty or certified pre owned is also recommended.

IF you are willing to be patient in tuning a Strativarius, you will love this car. If you are content with playing a ukulele, please feel free to "play thru". My 2008 (demo) had a 'top issue' at one time but has been flawless for the past 7 months. Don't be troubled, I have had 11 new GM cars in the past 39 years. ALL have been reliable durring their lifetimes, few with more than 'one trip in for warranty work'. After 7 months of driving, I'm still teaching this car my voice commands. I'm getting 22.4 overall MPG and I like speed. I still have my 1979 Chevy crew cab dually, and it runs. Can you tell I'm not an 'import kind of guy' ?
