Cool transmission check and fill

I have ordered a shop manual for my 07 but in the meantime, I need to check and top off, if needed, my transmission. I purchased my 07 wrecked and have the rad assy in place; when I start the car, I have a slight grinding sound coming from the underside. I am thinking I'm low on tranny fluid; hoping you can tell me how to check and top off.
thanks

I got the "transmission fluid fill and check procedure" from the GM dealer here... HOLY CRAP!!! What it takes to check and fill the tranny. Guess I'll take it to the XLR certified tech and have him do it for $100 + fluid. Seems like a pretty fair price...

It is a pain to check the transmission fluid level and it is even harder to add fluid to the 6 speed automatic. The 5 speed automatic is a little easier.
