How to post pictures--another solution

In case you are trying to figure out how to post a picture, I'll walk you through the steps...

You've taken a picture of your beautiful XLR and you want everyone to see. You've uploaded the picture from your camera on to your computer. Now you're trying to figure out how to get that picture in your post online.

First thing is you have to host the picture online somewhere. There's tons of different sites that host pictures. Some of the members can share which sites they use to host pictures. Personally, I use www.photobucket.com. It's free and only takes a minute to set up an account. You're going to have to figure out the steps needed to upload the picture on whichever hosting site you choose.

Now, once you've got your picture hosted on an internet site you want to post it in a thread on this forum. To do that, you have to copy the "Direct Link" properties of the picture. I don't know about other hosting sites but Photobucket gives you 4 different links on each uploaded picture. They are:
Email and IM, Direct Link, HTML code, and IMG code. Then, once you've copied the link, you click on the Yellow Box that has a Mountain symbol on it. It's located right above where you're typing. Once you click on the Yellow Box that has a Mountain on it, you paste the link. The correct format will be completed and when you submit your post, the picture will appear.

Another way, now that I think about it, is to just click on the link that says IMG code. It's already in the correct formatting and you don't have to worry about clicking on the Yellow Box with a Mountain on it. Paste that link in the post directly and the picture will appear once you submit it.

Let me know if you have any questions or run into any problems. Try to post your first picture in this thread if you haven't done it before.

Keep in mind, with photobucket, if you make your albums "public" ,a link to one picture can be used to see all your public albums. Here's a pic of the few XLRs I could gather at one stop of this year's Hot Rod Power Tour.

See if you can figure out how to see the rest of the album.

This site will display pics in any size you save them in, but its recommended you save them as 640x480. I save many of mine as 1024x768 for my digital photo albums. For viewing via the internet, I think the best size for clarity and detail is 800x600.

Since you're using PhotoBucket, if the picture is larger than 640x480, you could always attach a thumbnail view(IMG Thumb) to your post here on the forum. That way a small pic is displayed in your post, but if someone wants to see the pic full size all they have to do is click on it.
