This is a re-post from a thread that was started regarding the XLR-V. Since it was color related I thought it should be here.
Thanks
Allen
New- Infra Red
Both reds are one in the same, the Infra Red is slightly clossser to the Pearl Red of the 1995-1997 than the Crimson Pearl of 1998-2005. The latter has slightly more blue in the color to darken it.

The photos of the XLR-V from the new York Auto Show bring out the brightness and reflection that the new Xirillac Flake bounces the light off the surface, when bright light is directed at it. The Studio shots of the Infra Red were under a softer light. Read about the Xirillac Flake on the Specifications page www.cadillacxlr-v.com/page3.html

This situation looks no different than at the 2003 Detroit Show we had pics of the Light Platinum that looked Pearl White because of the bright lights. The Crimson Red on my colors page www.cadillac-xlr.com/_wsn/page6.html
looks very Cherry red because it was taken as it rolled off the carrier on a very bright day.

I have attached the two photos of the same Infra Red that vary because of the lighting.

So Allen,

Would you say that the more true color that we will see in normal light conditions during the day time would be Cherry Red?
I much prefer the Cherry red while I have found others that like the NY auto show red. Do you have a contact person at Bowling Green that I could get in touch with and maybe stop off on my way back to Jersey this summer to see this color in the flesh?

Hi Bob,
why you don`t ask Harry for a cantact person at the plant in Bowling Green

As I told you before I will drive my first XLR V in aug. this year in the Bowling Green area. This only can happen with my contact person there

If you want the name and phone number send me a priv. message.

Infra Red

The Infra Red will be the color for all 2006 XLR & XLR-V. Since the regular model starts production at the end of June, you will be able to see it well befor the XLR-V goes into production in January.

You may throw rocks at your Crimson after you see the 06 ultra red., so don't be to smug, just yet.

Fabulous Red!

I agree . . . the '06 red is really delicious! I didn't care for the '05/'04 crimson red, but the '06 red is much richer and much more attractive!

Allyn, I agree with the color being delicious, almost to the point of biting into it, but the thing I don't like is the tailights are almost the same color as the car and doesn't leave any accent points, I therefore changed my V to Platinum. Just a matter of choice.

Are the cherry blossom out yet, Oh wait, that's another 6 months. BTW, the color reminds me of cherries

I saw a new black 2006 at Corona Del Mar last weekend. The tailights were, believe it or not, black. You could not differentiate the body from the tailights from a distance, unless the headlights were on or the driver stepped on the brakes.

Still like the 2004/5 Crimson Pearl over the 2006 Ultra red
