Many individuals have asked, well the 2006 XLRs started to come in this week. The changes are to numerous to simply list out here. The changes range from the XM antennas built in to the side mirrors, larger radiator to two tone Ebony/Shale interior.

I received each of the 2 interior choices and the Ebbony uppers (like Neiman Editions) flows much better. The additional Eucalyptus wood trim topping just above the CD changer adds a nice touch.

Thank you

:eek 2006 already!
It's hard to believe, it seems our 2004s are still the hottest new thing on earth.

What's funny is that this is the very first mention of it on this forum, and it's already out..... with changes "too numerous to list". How did that happen? We have speculated and scrambled all year for info on the V, but not one word of the 06 and what seem to be pretty significant changes. I would have expected to know this car inside out long before it hit the general public.
Have we been blindsided here or did I just totally miss something?

Thanks for the info Allen,
appreciate knowing any more changes you can list out here :thumbs

I too am amazed that this hasn't been discussed here before.

I especially like the idea of a built in XM antenna. :)

I saw a picture on the GM INSIDER website ("Your cadillac lineup"), shows new rims...multi-spoked, not particularly nice & impossible to clean. I'd post a photo but haven't a clue how...cut & paste won't work. Any confirmation on the rims???

From another fine forum, http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac/topic/38925-1.html . Personally, I wish I could retrofit the hidden XM antenna!

Straight from the GM online ordering guide for 2006:

Deletions
Exterior color (46U) Satin Nickel
Exterior color (86U) Crimson Pearl

New Features
Exterior color (51U) Gold Mist
Exterior color (80U) Infrared
Adaptive Forward Lighting System
Dynamic Passenger Sensing System
XM Satellite Radio now standard
Unique hidden diversity XM antenna

An Adaptive Forward Lighting system, a first-time application on a Cadillac, which automatically adjusts headlamp direction up to 15-degrees for improved night driving vision

I beilieve the Dynamic Passenger Sensing System is a sensor for the passanger airbag. Anyone back me up on that one?

By the way, I set in a 2006 XLR today, and you know how GM doesn't like to release everything.

Anyways here are some more changes for the 2006 XLR:

The Wood Trim goes all the way up to the CD changer slot, (above it)

The mirror is changes and says Passenger Airbag, just like the Escalades do.

There is no airbag light on the center consul anymore.

They have put a black filler plate over where the key use to be.

They have added a GM logo on the outside of the car behind the driver side and passenger side, like the 2006 corvettes.

Also I noticed in the export modes, they have a feature that if you leave your windows down and put your hand inside the car the alarm will go off, I though that was pretty cool.

Also the new gold mist color looks ok, almost like a cream.

Anyone know what the MSRP is on the 06 XLR-V? I just bought my 05 a month ago and am ready to trade to the V. I love this car and look forward to more of it.

Wow, a bit more than the XLR. Oh well, I guess I'll have to sell the 05 XLR and make room for the V.

The carpet is not ready :lol and I still got 3 more weeks here but I will go up to B G.
I am right now in Naples Fl. and visited my dealership where I bought the last 10 years 3 new Cadillacs off, these were for use in the US only.

Ruth will be at the plant again from aug. 16th on.

The tour guides where terrific and once they knew I had a 04 and was interested in the V and infra Red, they took us out of the tour and went to the XLR's which are not on the normal assembly line, but on wheeled cars that they physically move along at a smails pace.

Bob, Enjoy the tour
