: XLR and Mount Wilson
Robin 07-13-2005, 09:39 PM As most people who live Southern California know, Mount Wilson is where most of the T.V. Transmitter and lot of FM station are located. I work for one of the T.V. station. So today I drove the XLR to Mount Wilson. In doing so I was perpare for what I thought would happen to the Electronic's, And sure enough what I thought would happen did. First thing is the FOB is not recognized. So to start the XLR you have to put the FOB in the holder in the glove box. The second is if you have the passive lock enabled. You will be using the Master Key in the rear bumper to get back into the XLR. I had the top down so didn't have to use the master KEY.
Bottom line if you go up to Mount Wilson in your XLR to see the view of LA on a clear day or night BE AWARE of what could happen. Robin
We have an area in town where there are a bunch of TV and radio transmitters. Have frequently had FOB problems there. Have driven the XLR through there but haven't needed to stop there yet. I'm glad you reported on what I have often wondered about.

there is a "holder" for your FOB in the glove box that will position it closest to the main receiver should you have reception problems or low battery in the FOB
jackewells 07-14-2005, 07:43 PM One more thing the dealer didn't know :flag
Robin 07-14-2005, 10:27 PM The FOB holder is on the left side wall of the glove box opening. I beleave that Cadillac is aware that High RF area would be a problem to the electronic's. so this is there fix should you find yourself in this kind of jam. Robin
Is that the glove box or the center console? I thought it was the little plastic thing in the center console.:confused
Eyedoc 07-15-2005, 07:28 AM The FOB folder is in the glove box, not in the center console (at least on my 2004).
jackewells 07-15-2005, 09:19 AM I have located the FOB holder in the dashboard glove box...hope I don't have to use it.
I also found an on/off switch jusr above the holder. Can't find any mention of this switch in owners manual. Anyone have a clue? :flag

Hi there, a friend who bought a month ago a new STS was in the city of Wuerzburg/germany went back to his car and the FOB didn`t worked anymore.
He called the Cadillac-dealer, which was not far away and they towed the car to the Dealership. They took a look in the owners manual and find this out with the FOB-holder, but it`s on the STS in the center console on the back side.
They placed the FOB right in the holder and after some minutes the transmitter were re-activated. I didn`t know this before but it`s good to hear that it is on my XLR in the glove box. IŽll take a look right now on my car.
This forum is excellent!!!!!

Hi Jackewells,
I just took a look at my car and the switch you`ve talking about is for the valet-locking. If this switch is on ON yout top won`t open. Is the FOB-holder the slit right under this switch????

What's an ashtray? ;)
standby 07-16-2005, 10:24 PM I think everyone said glove compartment for the XLR and console for the STS, maybe I'm reading it wrong.

No Bob, you don`t. On our XLR`s its on the left side of the glove compartment, on the STS it`s on the right side back of the center console.
