Has anyone had their factory wheels chromed? The polished wheels lose their "bling" when they get the slightest amount of dirt on them. I'm trying to determine if chroming the factory wheels would be worth the outlay.

I have not. But it is a very simple job for any good chrome shop. I have had others done, it was painless

Yesterday while driving the XLR, the %@$# cell phone rang, and while pulling it out of my pocket, I hit the curb. The wheel is functional but aesthetically ruined.

Time for those nineteens, Rick. I'm taking your advice.

Aviator--if interested I have a set of 4 factory mint xlr wheels in boxes ready to ship--would be happy to part with 1 or 2 of them if it helps u out.

ctsvman,
That little pocket where your cigarette lighter is, holds a cell phone very nicely and is easy to get too.

My dealer, Symes Cadillac in Pasadena was able to get an exchange for chrome wheels for about $100 per wheel.

Rather than chrome, I'd lilike to paint my wheels black but can't find a coating that will stick.

Sorry, your previous thread led me to believe you just wanted pictures of chrome rims, but now that I read it, (Does anybody have pictures of the chrome wheels?) the word THE changes the whole concept of the question.

I guess the Technician in me gets going, when it seems to me the so many people now on the forum are more concerned about looks than safety. There have been many members stating how they were saved by the XLRs Michelin tires.

Members that were not stranded because they did not have to wait for someone to either bring them a replacement NON Michelin tire, or waiting to have a tow truck pick up their beauty on the side of the road.

Cadillac spent millions on working with Michelin to develope a tire, that was a nice blend of performance and comfort with out loosing the ability to drive in bad weather. When you throw in the biggest benefit of all, to be able to drive your XLR for 125 miles at speeds up to 55 mph with NO, Zero air pressure in the tires is priceless.

I have attached 2 photos of the Cadillac Accessory Wheel that was designed with the Michelin ZP Extended Mobility tires. These wheels have done an awsome job for me, most of my clients agree it adds quite a bit to the overall apperance. But most importantly they dont loose the #1 benefit of the "OE" Tires.

Hi Mr XLR,

they look good. Do you know the price off them? Are they for use with the ragular tires?

Thanks

Harry

Yes, That is the greatest part! They were designed to using the Michelin ZP tires. The cost is about $2,800.00 US.
