Almost every time I try to put the top up or down, I get the "cargo divider" message. Is there a way to override this? Take the sensors out? Disconnect them? I trust myself to keep the trunk empty. It's a big hassle to get out every time I need to move the top and jiggle the cargo divider? ANY SUGGESTIONS??? Thanks!!

Welcome to the XLR Forum.

We are sorry to learn about your top problems.

I wouldn't recommend over riding that switch. Just one lapse in memory could cause some very expensive damage to your top.

I would recommend that you replace the switch which isn't hard or expensive. That way everything will work as intended and you can put the top down without getting out of the car.

The free/super cheap option.
Wrap electric tape around the pins that go into the slot, just once or twice...
This will make the pin slightly larger and give it a tighter fit (so it doesnt slide out) while still allowing you to remove the cargo barrier if needed :)

You can see the switch actuator arm in the slot of the left tower in the trunk. It's easy to open it up and see if the switch has become loose/misaligned. If it's just a flaky switch, (they really aren't expensive and you can replace it yourself) kevbeth is right: you can increase the diameter slightly of the actuator pin attached to the luggage barrier.

--While electrical tape will work, it gets gummy and loose over time (especially in the hot confines of a trunk.) A better fix would be a small piece(s) of heat shrink layered until you can achieve the diameter to set the switch arm closed.

Thanks. Since writing the question, I have tried the electrical tape. We'll see how it works. I am very hesitant to disable the switches, for the reason cited by "XLR I FL." So, if the tape ploy fails, I guess I'll try replacement. The getting out every time is not a desirable long-term prospect. :)
