Does anyone know if OnStar turn-by-turn navigation is compatible with the XLR? This would be a way around our obsolete nav systems and bring us up to date direction information. I have a 2010 CTS and like the ability to call Onstar for directions when in an unfamiliar location.

I think it is on all OnStar systems.

It is, If you have an 04 through 07 you will need a free digital upgrade but it will work.

I originally meant for this to be part of the nav thread, but somehow ended up seperate. My though on this is for someone that is on the road alot and needs directional help, this is a sure way to stay current without adding additional wiring and an add on screen. My subscription is about to run out on my CTS and I am weighing the advantage of continuing Onstar to have the navigation feature. For me, it is less intursive than my Tom Tom and more accurate than the nav system in my XLR - even with the latest DVDs. Price is only concern as I my driving only requires this assistance once or twice a month.

Not free! Digital upgrade cost was a 1 year commitment to On Star for $199 + $15 installation fee. Turn by Turn is an additional $39.95/mo over and above base plans.

I tried to use the onstar button on my 05 and what has happened is that they went all digital so mine is obsolete. The quote was the same as above and frankly....I see no value in it so they can keep it.

According to the quote I have for my CTS, the cost including turn by turn is $28.90/month or $299/year. Still a lot, and I'm not sure if this price extends to my XLR. At any rate you need to be on the road a good bit to justify the expenditure and most of us do not drive our XLRs that much.

Unfortunately that's been the case from the begining. There is no value in the program for most people. Especially when hey take your accrued minutes away.
