Hi I am an 18 years old cadillac xlr owner. I'm living in Turkey. Before buying this car I searched all the information that I could find in the web... it's written in the official web site of cadillac that the xlr is doing 0-100 kilometers per hour in 5.8 seconds. I tried many times with the traction control off but I never could reach 5.8 seconds... I was around 7.4...Do you think it's a problem with my car...or is it the same for all the xlr's? I was also wondering the xlr's top speed...
thank you...

Although I've never tried to duplicate the numbers officially published by any auto manufacurer, they are usually off a bit (since those are done by perfectly tuned cars, under ideal condition and by professional drivers).

How did you do the timing? Did someone help you? If not, its a bit hard to do it yourself and drive the car.

part of the problem is that 100 kph is equal to 62.14 mph -- and the published figure is 0-60 mph (not 62)--try it to 96.6 kph (i hope my math is ok) and i think the max speed is 155 -- limited by the tires.

I was timing it myself with the cell phone but I'm sure I didnt make any mistake...I tried so many times...
Ive also got a porshe cayenne s and I tried its acceleration as well and it matches with the noted specifications...

Regardless of how good you may be with that cel phone timer, you'll turn a better time and be safer on a track. Are you sure its a good idea to be fumbling with a cell phone with one hand while attemting a max G launch with the other?

Also, try standby's trick:

"Press TC on the console and hold for 5 seconds and it takes off the TC & Stabilitrack system= much quicker off the line and you now have control of your XLR."

I wish people around here would use their cell phones to drive rather than sitting at a green light planning lunch with grandma :glol

Darki,
Eighteen Years old............WOW! Since you obviously have the funds to buy just about any car you want, and I think that's great, have a little patience and wait for the XLR-V to come out in 05 or 06. Could be supercharged or turbo or even the Corvette engine, but we all have it on good authority that it's gonna nock the socks off the Porche you have.
Good Luck, Standby

i don't buy it...

How exactly do you try to time a car doing 0-60 on a cell phone??? Much less to the tenth of a second???

Is this car fast?? .... Yes... Is it faster than most vehicles on the road?? ... Yes....

More importantly. Isn't it faster than damn near everything on the road in Turkey???
