has anybody changed to the E3 plugs in a V. I was wondering if they caused any issues or is it best to stay with stock

As advertised, these plugs sound miraculous --especially where increased fuel efficiency is concerned. This begs the question: If they improve fuel efficiency so dramatically, why aren't they included as OEM parts? The Big Automakers would love to tout increased fuel efficiency on window sales stickers and keep the government off their backs to meet tightening CAFE standards. Hmmm. . . :skep

I've yet to read a post from an owner who installed them claiming these plugs were a path to improved performance or fuel economy. They aren't cheap either.

Here's a message from GM's Tech Link archives related to aftermarket plugs:

Some owners of a 2005-09 Corvette or 2004-09 XLR may comment that the Service Charging System message displays on the DIC. DTC P0621 is stored. This may be a result of aftermarket spark plugs or an open in circuit number 2540.

1. Check for aftermarket spark plugs. Plugs that are designed with a "pulse" technology may interfere with this circuit and cause the Service Charging System message in the DIC and/or P0621 DTC to store in the ECM. If aftermarket plugs are installed, replace the plugs with OEM parts. This is not considered a warranty repair and all cost associated with this repair should be the customer's responsibility.

2. Circuit 2540 is supplied voltage from the horn fuse, position 2 in the UBEC. Try the horn to see if it works. If the horn does not work, suspect an open fuse. This fuse may open if the horn is shorted due to water intrusion. If the horn is functional, check the integrity of circuit 2540 between the UBEC and the generator. Refer to SI document 1481125 for the schematic. Repair circuit 2540 as needed and re-evaluate the customer's concern.

Does anyone have any comments/experience regarding the E3 plugs?

I have no experience with these plugs, the following is a generic comment.

For years (pretty well since cars used plugs) there have been alternative plugs on the market claiming this, that and the other (usually power or economy improvements).

Some of them (perhaps all of them?) even work, but maybe only for a period. One method is to have a hotter plug. If it has burnt a hole through the piston crown, those 'benefits' don't look so good any more. (I have seen a hole melted through a piston crown.)

For myself, I fit OEM plugs. What is the plug replacement service interval? 100,000 miles? Or is it 50,000 miles? What ever, that is a long way on not much cost per mile.

This is not to say there aren't excellent alternate plugs out there. Reputable manufacturers are very careful to match their plugs to the requirements, however, as I say, I fit OEM.

I have them in my V... they work fine. I don't know if I'm getting any of the improvements they claim, but I figure it couldn't hurt.
