Hello All,

Well I thought I would save a dime and have the sears store change my oil today. The special was $13.99 and I provided the oil and they provided the labor and oil filter. While driving the car home I pressed the reset but to change oil life to 100%. I gues they did not know about this. I got home the car rested for a while (2 hours) and now I have a check engine light. Could reseting the oil life while driving cause this? or should I check with a diagnostic tool to see what code iot is. IF so where is the connector for the scanner located?

thanks!

When was the last time you filled up with gas? Ensure the gas cap is fully seated, otherwise it can trigger the Malfunction Indicator Light.

Resetting your oil life indicator should not cause an issue.

The scan tool connector receptacle is in the normal location --under the steering wheel.

Good luck.

I just ran the scanner and came up with 2 codes PO455 and says something about evaporative control system. As I doubt this could be a reult of a oil change or reset, You are probably right and it is a gas cap issue. I'll reset the codes, tighten down on the cap the best I can, and see what happens. I have not fillled up with gas since Friday and put about 100 miles on the car since Friday...Thanks very much for your help!

The gas cap is a component of the evaporative emissions system. It may take three ignition cycles to clear (once sufficiently tightened). Bad gas cap seals are not an uncommon occurance with the XLR.

The DTC P0455 refers to a leak in the Evaporative Emssions system. There's a pressure sensor that monitors the Fuel Tank Pressure. If the system is unable to achieve the calibrated vacuum level, (or it decreases too rapidly) this code will set.

Hopefully, it's the gas cap. --And luckily, they're cheap to replace as well.
