is there a 2010 rendezvous planned?
I have attempted to garner some interest on several occasions and fell short of the mark.

I am willing try again to see if we have enough people that would like to do so.

If not there is nothing wrong with your setting up a small event for those who would like to get together.

Either way lets set up a poll to see who is interest.

I've voted yes, especially for something near this side of the country.

I also voted YES, Jerry.
Just let me know when and where and I'll be there with my 06 Star Black Metallic Twin eSupercharged ~ 400 Therobreed XLR!

Of course, I'll be going stag this time, I lost my co-pilot last year.

Thanks for voting guys..

Jack sorry to learn of your loss.

Please be thinking of where we want to get together if it isn't Bowling Green.

I'm interested. Seems like most of those interested so far are on the East Coast.

In that case, one option would be the GM Nationals at Carlisle, PA - end of June. A number of smaller clubs meet during this event. I'm sure they would welcome another group.

I see the interest is growing. If you know of other members here that might be interested please see if you can get them to vote.

ALSO, it would be good to know where you are interested in meeting up.

So far we have:

1. Bowling Green, KY
2. Carlisle, Pa
3. Deals Gap (Nice place and fun to drive)

Thanks Very Much

Bowling Green seems like it would be the the most central location of the three. Maybe we could get it together for June or August

August is definitely NOT the time of year to go to Bowling Green!!!! Stay away from the summer months. Unbearable there then!

WE did sweat a little didn't we??

I also found out that Deals Gap recently had a major rock slide that has closed portions of the road until maybe September. I think it's the portion from TN into NC. RATS!!!

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your note about Judi but I didn't mean she had died or anything like that. It just didn't work out between us so we went our seperate ways.

I'm on the west coast and early to mid June would be ideal for me.

Guys
I have never been to one of your events, but it sounds like a good time. Put me in for a vote for Carlisle Pa. That is real car country and would say wonders for the XLR . Majority of the people that meet there have no idea the XLR exists. I've loved the V car since the first day I laid my eyes on it. I think it would do wonders for the cars image. Summer is beautiful there!!!!

LOCATION I ASSUME IS BOWLING GREEN

Let's get everybody to agree on a date.

Post the dates you would like

Alumni attendees can attest that the summer is.....HOT!! up there. 100 degree days and very high humidity are common.

EVENT COORDINATORS: I would like to ask moneypit and rbrown (they have to accept first) to "take the point" on this event and shepard it through to the end.

I would be glad to help where I can. I live about 2 hours from bowling green and have been there a few times so I could help there. I know nothing about doing a meet but I would do what I can. Just let me know.

What happened, I thought we had the ball rolling for the weekend 6/18 at BG?
Has anyone thought of placing our events in any of the car magizines?
There is a magizine that is free named "DRIVE" that has an EVENT section that we could list our '2010 Rendezous' in.
Their web site is: www.DRIVEONLINE.COM

Has anyone thought of doing rendezvous in conjuction with a motorsports event such as, an ALMS or Grand Am race? Petit Le Mans is in Atlanta in October. There is also Mid Ohio.

XLR I FL
06-21-2010, 06:14 PM
Yes we have done that in the past and yes we can do it again if enough members are interested.

The big thing here is getting the interest up and for some interested members to "take the point" and lead the function through to completion.

I have not been active on any of the forums in over a year but I finally paid in full my 2004 XLR after 76 payments, I now own this car. And so I don't have car payments anymore ($1,600 plus) so, I finally fixed everything that was needed including the retractable top. The car is running like brand new!
So my point is that I would be interested in using the car again for trips. I have 216,107 miles on it as of today.

I don't think it is necessary to create a big event like an official Rendezvous but I think it would be fun to go to some exciting places. Maybe Key West, FL. You live in Florida, so do I and I don't know if some of the older members from Florida are still on this forum but I would be interested in early June for Key West or really anytime is fine with me.

Henry:

Welcome back!!!

I sure am glad you finally own your XLR.

I think you are still the XLR high mileage king on this forum. It's good for the other members to know that a XLR is running around with that kind of mileage and that the problems are still minimal.

XLR RALLY'S--You are absolutely correct!! It seems that every time the momentum gets going on a large rally it fizzles out at the last minute. Smaller and more localized ones should work well.

I hope you will stop in more often.

Best Wishes

Jerry

So, why don't you shipping your cars and meet there. :jester

Having a 2011 rally of XLRs in Key West is a great idea! Sign me up now if you plan on doing this! September has the lowest hotel rates there.
My 1st choice is the Pier House...secure parking, private beach on the Gulf, 2 bars excellent restaurant, bring money!
2nd is Best Western Hibiscus...good rates, free B'fast, short walk to Duval St.
3rd is The Truman House, just a tad longer walk to Duval St...great rates (considering it's Key West) great pool, free b'fast, very limited free parking garage.:cheers

I went to the SSR rally to key west in nov. 2009. Ive had the XLR for about a year and think a trip to the keys in september would get a lot of Fla.& Ga. people involved. Jerry you could bring the SSR or XLR. Its a great weekend & not to far or to expensive. Look forward to comments.
