Be sure you have a FRESH FOB Battery installed in the FOB. Then stand very close to the car and see if it will open the car. If so, you may need to have the software upgraded at the Cadillac dealer.
There was a Factory Warranty item on this a few years back.
I am betting your warranty is gone so you may have to pay for the "Fix".
Once you are "in" the car step on the brake and then push the starter button on the dash. The car should start. If not you may have a car battery problem if it won't even turn over.
Please le tus know how this comes out for you.

If your fob battery is good and you still can't get the car started, (I'm assuming you've gained access to the vehicle with either the fob or key) there are several things to check out before you make a run to the dealer. Or a tow. . .
First, place the fob next to the limp-home antenna in the glove box, and try to start the car. Your owner's manual has detailed instuctions if you aren't familiar with this. If that doesn't work, try another fob. If that doesn't work, you've either got a pair of fobs that aren't recognized by the car or a dead battery that won't start it or power the module(s) that recognize the fobs. (RCDLR in normal operation, BCM in limp-home mode) Do the interior lights come on when you open the door?
Ensure the car's battery is not only the right voltage, but capable of delivering the required starting current. You might have to take it to an auto parts store if you don't know how to check it.
No power = no joy.
Keep us posted.

I just encountered an issue with my keyfob. My father got in my XLR (stored in his garage over the hard, snowy Midwest winter) and he was locked in the car. He used the levers inside the door entry to manually exit the car. The battery in the keyfob died. In turn this threw the other keyfob off and my dealer not only needed to replace the battery, but had to reprogram the fob. This is a 30-minute ordeal which costs approximately $8.50 for the battery plus $34 for the labor to program (at least in my area). I love my XLR, but there are many aspects which are high-maintenance!

You should have been able to replace the FOB Battery and not have to go to the dealer. Also the 2nd FOB should have allowed entry to the car.

Fob re-programming is covered in the owner's manual, so you shouldn't be reliant on a dealer's expensive labor charges to perform this.
As for long-term winter storage, the XLR needs a full-time battery charger connected (anything over three weeks should be considered long-term with this car!) to guarantee reliable starts and access.
We're seeing more and more posts regarding owner's who fail to heed this simple advice and end up locked out, or unable to start their cars as a result.
The XLR ALWAYS draws power, --even when parked. If not driven regularly and left to sit, the battery will discharge to the point where you're going to have issues, and likely, reduced battery life. A Battery Tender/Minder is cheaper than a new battery and worth the piece of mind. These units have inline connectors that take just a moment to connect/disconnect.
