I have a dealer friend of mine traded a 04 XLR Metallic Red/Black with 23,000 miles on it. The previous owner always had the car service by Cadillac. He had all the upgrades done for the top.

I currently own a 2004 Corvette Coupe and have owned 22 other Corvettes. Is an 04 XLR a good car or a problem car. The factory warranty is over on this car. Also can you get the window sticker and build sheet for these like the Vette from the NCM

If properly maintained and serviced, '04s are fine. You can read through the posts on this site to quantify this and learn about issues pertaining to the earlier builds. Yes, BG Assembly has been known to supply build stickers. NCM might.

From everything I've read, there are more former vette owners switching to XLRs than the reverse, though a lucky view own both! The XLR is a vette in a tux, so if you end up in one, you can claim 22 1/2 vettes.

I've owned the '04' XLR since new. Other than the top malfunctioning, Cadillac finally fixed the issues. Mine is still under warranty for 8 years / 100K., and runs powereful like day 1. It also still turns heads and drops jaws like a future car. If you like that sort of attention, the depreciation is tapped out of the price now, and you won't be disappointed.

Well right or wrong I am buying it tomorrow. The car is Crimson Pearl with Ebony Interior and 22,000 miles. I ran a warranty claims history on it and it had the following done for the top. 9-3-08 @ 21,538 miles it had the folding top controller module replaced. 5-16-08 @ 20,750 folding top adjusted. 7-20-07 @19,400 potentiometer switch replaced. 12-23-05 @ 12,496 actuator rear compartment lid release switch replaced.

I hope this fixed any issues with the top. I see these cars for sale with 40,50,60,70,80K miles on them so they must be OK.

Write back in two weeks and tell us if you're still sporting a satisfied grin on your face every time you press the start button and hear the engine fire up while watching the gauges do their sweep dance before "XLR" scrolls across the HUD. I'm betting it will still be ear to ear.

I have an 04 and love it. Mine has probably been one of the worst and I still love it. I wouldn't hesitate one minute. They are a great car. The only advise I can give is if you ever have a top problem with the top have them replace all 4 of the position sensor. They are only $80 retail or $39 wholesale. Easy to replace and once they are all replaced you will probably not have any more problems.

I have an 05. Sounds like the history shows the one you're buying has had the "typical" problems handled. The only problem I didn't notice in your posts were the headlights which had a history of cooking on the early models. You can do a search about that in the forum. But I agree with everyone else, once you're in one, there's no feeling like it. Enjoy, you won't regret the purchase.

I'd buy it. I think I'm going to be looking for one for myself. My girlfriend is so excited about owning hers. Still a new car but all the depreciation is done.

If you will spend some time going though the technical sections here you will find virtually all of the issues these cars have along with the solutions including a majority of the GM/Cadillac Official Bulletins.

Also there is nothing like having a copy of your service history so you know what has and has not been adresssed.
