I was thinking of taking a steering wheel from a CTS-V 2009 and implement it onto my XLR but was wondering if this is possible and would I be able to utilize the paddle shifts on the steering wheel....

Hat's off to you for out-of-the-box thinking!

Several issues to consider:

1) Form, fit, and functionality of the new steering wheel. The only way to check the splines would be to buy a new steering wheel, remove the old, and compare. Probably okay, but one should never guess.

2) Functionality: You'll need a shop manual for both cars to see if it's electrically possible. I'd be willing to bet the steering wheel paddle shifters on the CTS-V are wired to the TCM, so TCM compatibility would need to be verified. This could be a show-stopper in itself, due to the integrated nature of the TCM to the ACC and other systems. Or. . . .

3) It might be possible to re-configure the paddle shifters wiring to emulate the stock XLR transmission shift lever DSC positions by paralleling the circuit. This might be the easiest method to integrate the steering wheel, and is worth a look.

4) Functionality Again: The driver airbag functions would also need to be factored in.

This could be a fun weekend project.

Hmm that is true I never thought of using the Vette steering wheel and implementing it in. It's just I wanted to retain a steering wheel with Caddy logos.

Hello,

I have been wondering about this same modification. If you have any luck with this modification, please let me know.

Thanks!
