Is there any upside to owning a 2009 as opposed to say a 2006, 2007 or 2008.
I know 2006 had a Star Black edition and the 2009 are Platinum editions.

Other that that ........?

I see the 2009's are almost being given away at some dealerships and if used there are some great bargins out there...sort of scary thinking of resale value.

The later models are just as nice as the latest and greatest version, and you don't have to worry about depreciation to the same degree. (I've seen brand-new 2008's still being listed, and those were nearly $10k less!) There were some cosmetic changes to the front and rear ends on the 2009's, but otherwise, there isn't much different other than colors. This is a great time to buy a used, low-milage XLR. If money isn't a factor, the unsold 2008's available are good. If you want a bargain, then low-milage 2006's are selling for reasonable prices. The changes in options over the years were few, heated steering wheels, adaptive headlights, multi-color HUDs, and a revised suspension system. And of course, there's the V model if you want xtra speed!

I purchased my XLR for ME ! I don't really care about resale values because I bought it for my use and not an investment. Money (cash on hand) is important to me, but IMHO the purchase of a vehicle in this "automobile class" is far beyond 'transportation' and I see it as "a point in my life". Again, IMHO if you are worried about 'resale values' I suggest you buy a PRIUS and 'savor' your INVESTMENT. I make these bold statements while looking over my garage full of 'original owner vehicles'. My 1972 Vette (soon to have a 598" motor), 1979 turbocharged 454 Chevy crew cab dually, 1995 Suburban, 2005 ESV and the 2008 XLR. These are the vehicles I kept, because I really enjoy them, NEVER for their "market value".

Which dealerships are "practically giving away" the 2009s? I'm interesting in a V, and would love to see a great deal on one.

Thanks,
