So I noticed a slight shake at about 80 mph. Bring the car in to a local place to have the tires balanced and a 4 wheel alignment. Once on the machine we notice each wheel had a noticeable wobble. NO DENTS from potholes, just a wobble, some worst than others. We were able to zero them out on the balancer, but what gives????!!!!! Are they covered under warranty? Shouldn't they be??!! Tire guy says its common with expansion and contraction of aluminum wheels. Any info?

I never heard that one before.

I do know from experience that some new rims are marginally out of balance from the factory.

I understand that they can be put back in balance by a professioal wheel alignment and balancing company. Your body shop guy may know of one that is local to you.

Properly done it won'thurt the chrome finish...

How many sets of tires have been installed on these rims and who did it??? Sometimes the "greatest of care" isn't used and a rim gets out of whack during the process.

I made sure that my Cadillac dealer has the lates wheel balancing and tire installation equipment. I also went to Discount Tire who also has the latest equipment. the reason is that these wheels and tires are much wider than the older machins can handle safely and without doing damage.

Please let us know how this comes out.

My rears have been changed. My fronts never touched. They were able to resolve it on the balancer, but still warped!

I would check with the dealership body shop manager and see who he would recommend to have them straightened and balanced.

That way when you do your next tire change you will know that your rims are in balance.
