So the past month or so, I've been collecting parts to do a Z06 brake upgrade... my hunch was that it would be a direct bolt-on upgrade and it was...

It looks REAL NICE and I am positive it was a lot of work with little beer involved. :cheers :cheers Were you having stopping problems???

I have a 2008 "V" and haven't experienced anything that would motivate me to part with what I am sure is ALOT of $$$$.

I guess the poor car will be confused too with Corvette logo and XLR logo stuff installed it may not know who/what it is..... :confused :confused

Please let us know how much better it is after everything seats in.

Regards

Jerry

I didn't have any stopping "problems" per se... but I did want better braking.

I did track the car once and lost brakes after 5 laps due to the fluid boiling... (lucky that I didn't hit a wall) and since I had to flush the system out for DOT4 anyways, I figured I'd do a SS line change... and then I figured why not just upgrade them entirely.

I'll report back once I get them broken in.

Fantastic upgrade! I have a base XLR with V rims and want to upgrade. During your research do you know if Z06 brake addition will fit with V rims and any issue to add these brakes on a base XLR??

I don't believe that the stock wheels will work. I still have the stock wheels and clearly, the extra offset in my forgeline wheels allowed the Z06 brakes to fit. On the vette, you'd have to get a set of the Z06 wheels to make this brake swap work (or custom wheels). Some spacers may work, but I don't know if the tires will fit in the wheel well after that - it may, I just haven't tried.

The upgrade should fine on a base XLR just like it would on a base vette.

Incidentally - I think I'm going to put my old XLR-V brakes for sale which will definitely work with the stock wheels. :)
