: Does XLR Radio/CD Require a Password

My wife's SL500 requires a password to be entered in the event she loses battery power and then, once power is restored, she must key in a password to be able to use the radio or CD player again.

Since I bought my 2005 XLR used, with a rephoto-copied manual, the manual doesn't have any documentation about the radio/CD player. I would like to know whether or not the XLR requires a password, should I lose power (replace battery) and once power is restored, to be able to use the radio/CD player, would I have to enter a password.

If the anwer is yes, then where and from whom can I obtain the original password for my car? I would hope one would not have to pull the radio out for obtaining the serial number off the radio/CD player to provide this to whomever would have this password on file.

I'd like to know this now before this situation occurs. Thanks in advance for feedback on this question.

Best Regards,

I just replaced my battery, so all power was disconnected for a while. Other than the power windows having to be reset for the roof to work, there was no impact on anything else including the radio. There is no password, it uses the VIN number for theft security, so it can't be used in any other car if stolen.
