Here I am again trying to tap your knowledge. Is the theft alarm system able to be activated with the top down. If so I must be doing something wrong. If my doors are locked and someone trys to open them without a FOB in the area should the lights and horn go off?
Thanks

It should IF you have either set the personalization system up for autolock/alarm OR pushed the lock button as you leave the car.

I don't know what I could be doing wrong. I cannot get the alarm to go off on this car. I assume you are telling me I can some how disable the theft deterent system in the personnel configuration. Now I haven't put the top up to try but with the top down I can't get it to work. Can I be programming something wrong.
Thanks

How are you opening the door? are you unlocking the doors? If so, I think it disables the alarm. Trying pulling the emergency lever on the floor instead.

I am trying to open the doors with the fob out of the area and just pushing the open button on the cavity behind the outside door. I also tried reaching in and using the floor release. The door opened but no alarm. Somewhere in this sight I read the alarm will not work with the top down. I guess that would make a little sense.

If you can open the door from the outside without the FOB near by, then it sounds like the car was not locked. Did you press "lock" on the FOB or "lock" on the door before you shut it?
My garage at work is fairly secure, but you never know. Just about every day I drive to work with the top down. When I park, I leave the top down but put up the windows, and when I open the door to get out I push the lock button on the inside front of the door. It will not open from the outside because it is locked. If anyone reaches in and opens the door from the inside the alarm will go off. The up windows prevent anyone from rummaging through the car. I do not have much in there except a Gamin that I want to keep.

UPDATE
My mistake. I just tried it out and I could not get the top down locked XLR to open without the FOB, neither outside or inside locks. I could not reach the floor release because of the windows being up.

Basicly the only way the alarm is going to go off when the car is locked is if you get the door open without the fob in the area. I thought just pushing the open button without the fob would set off an alarm. The only way I set mine off is if I reach in and open the door with the manual lever on the floor.
Thank you all
