Just took delivery of my V. The HUD is dead. The PO said it was working, and the dealer said so also. I have checked the fuse (shared with instruments) and it is ok. I have exercised all the hud brightness and up down controls, the system remains unresponsive.
Is there some selection, switch, or option that disables the HUD? Or is the thing actually DOA?

Using a Tech 2 scan tool, your dealer can verify the life signs of your HUD in less time than it takes me to post this reply. The tool can place a grid on your windshield as well, to check column and row data.

If you aren't under warranty and have to buy a new unit, there are some new ones on eBay for $400, which is a healthy discount. Just make sure they're for the same model year as the HUDs added color in later years.

Thanks, I just called a dealer and he is going to check it for me. The car is an 06, with warrantee til 06/10, so it should be replaceable under that, if it is in fact defective.

I know it's doubtful, but were you wearing polarized sunglasses when you were trying to see the HUD? I can't see the HUD when I wear mine.

Me too, I finally bought some new sunglasses. What is strange is that I can see the HUD in my Corvette just fine with them.

DUHHHH. Operator error! Everyone at the dealer told me that it was probably lurking below the line of sight. So while trying many things to see it, I was always pressing the HUD rocker up.........guess what IT WAS UP OUT OF LINE OF SIGHT....
