Many luxury auto makers/dealers provide loaner cars to their customers when the car is brought back for repairs. Most Cadillac dealers, it appears, have rental car services, instead. In my experience these are run by Enterprise rental cars.

The poll is simply to find out the level of satisfaction compared with the service at other luxury car places.

I tried to narrow down the possible answers so only one applies. If more than one applies please choose the most appropriate one and post an explanation below.

From my experience, the loaner program varies with the specific dealer.

Once, at a Lincoln dealer, I had to call the 800# and hand the phone to the service guy to get a loaner at no charge after they flatly refused.

I've noticed that at a couple of Mercedes dealers, the likelihood of getting a Ford Escort from Enterprise has increased over the last few years. If you don't reserve an MBZ well in advance, you don't have a shot. And even if you reserved one well in advance, there is no guarantee they won't have given the last MBZ loaner to the guy ahead of you (it happend to me).

My experience with BMW is even worse. Enterprise Ford Escort all the way. No choice.

Our experience at our local dealer is that he uses Enterprise, but with the XLR, we always get a Cadillac loaner from Enterprise (DeVille or CTS) and not some other cars that the other service clients receive.

It seems that most of us XLR owners have at least two cars and a lot of more than 3. Instead of trying to get a loaner, I make my dealer pickup my car from my home (or office) and deliver it back when they are finished. Then I simply drive one of my other cars. When I ask them to pick it up, they usually fuss a little but quickly give in because it does not eat up a loaner. I perfer that doing it this way because I enjoy driving my cars.

I can't get the dealer to pick up/ deliver me or my car
because the "loaner" gets charged back to GM.
Last time in they gave Enterprise $1000.00 for

In my experience most Cadillac dealers use Enterprise, they usually have a Deville or CTS available but often do not.. in that case it's the luck of draw.. sometimes a Pontiac, Chevy, Olds or something.

Loaners tend to be spotty at best. Massey Cadillac (now Stewart Cadillac) in downtown Houston used Enterprise. Usually I got a Buick or something. The worst part was having to wait an hour to get the car. :nodno

Tom Pea**** Cadillac (think Peafowl) gives me a demo Deville or CTS, and it takes only minutes. We have four vehicles and only two drivers so having a car to drive is not the issue. Its the back and forth convenience. Very satisfactory experience! :thumbs

My experience with Mercedes loaner car program was awful when I was not with my "home" dealer. In fact, Skyland M-B in Asheville NC refused to give us a loaner when we tried to get service there. :cuss

BMWs loaner program at Advantage BMW in Houston was great. Never a problem, and we always got a BMW to drive. :thumbs

The key to a dealer pickup up your car for you or taking care of you in general is how familar they are with you. I live in Cincinnati and here there is a corporation called the Joseph dealer group. They are one of the top 20 auto groups in the country. They own over 50 car dealerships representing almost every make and model.

Because I always buy my cars from one of there dealerships they tend to take special care of me. Honestly, I have not even been to a dealership in years. I simply call the salesmanager of the Cadillac dealership and he handles everything for me no matter what I need. Need a chevy truck? No problem, he sets it up for me. Need an Toyota for the wife? Ditto. So, I guess what I am saying is this: If you are a good repeat customer and stick to one dealer group then have them assign you a salesperson and deal with that person everytime. He is the one that will pull strings for you. He is also the one that will tell the service department to go pick-up your car or do it himself because he wants your easy repeat business. I honestly believe this is why I have had none of the service issues others talk about on this forum.

On the 3-4 times I've had it in for service, they have supplied me with a Deville every time - Enterprise - I have actually never seen other non-Caddies being rented.

They also have a policy of upgrade to an SRX ($15/day extra) or Escalade ($25/day) if they are available.

Whenever my XLR or DTS are in for warranty service I am given a loaner from Enterprise. Usually a DeVille. Only problem is the interior smells bad from previous users (renters). The smell is particularly bad when the car has been in the hot sun. Right now my XLR has been at the dealer for two weeks waiting for a Body Control Module -- promised to be in today. The loaner has been in my driveway for ten of the fourteen days -- primarilly because of the smell.

The few times my XLR has needed service or a recall or to replace my fobs, my salesman has picked up my car at my home and left his cadillac (sometimes a CTS, sometimes an Escalade) and has taken the XLR to the dealer. When it's ready, he delivers it to my home. No problem, no sweat. What more could you ask for?

Whenever I have had my Eldorado, XLR or Escalade in for service and required a loaner the dealer has arranged for an Enterprise loaner. Over the past few years the loaner has been a DTS, SRX or Escalade. My dealer is Parkway in Valencia Ca. There is an Enterprise office on the dealer lot.

I use my "field car", a 1988 wagoneer limited.

I have been to the dealer not only for my XLR but for my other 2 caddies. I always get a Cadillac. My dealer is the best I have ever seen...foreign or domestic.
