Hello,

My 05 xlr has a service tire monitor message that just came on. Just a background, the tires are new Pirelli pzeros. I did not get the message light until I dropped the tire pressure down to the recomended(by pirelli) to 28 lbs.
Can any one help me as to what to do with out taking this in to the dealer? The car has 30k miles...thanks!

Where did you get your tires??? The tire company can and should have "reset" the TPM's for you to be sure that they are indicating the correct pressure and that the TPM's are on the right wheel i/e when it indicats its the left front tire it really is...

If you have any problems I know from personal experience that the Discount Tire people can fix or replace as necessary any malfunctioning TPM's.

I hope this helps..and WELCOME TO THE XLR FORUM!!!!!

Well I checked the tires again and they say max pressure 51 psi. The door jam says 30psi s its obvious these are not oem tires. So should I up the pressure to 50 and see if the pressure monitoring system is working correctly? thanks

Nope!!! I would go to Discount Tire or Tire Rack and have them check the proessure and the operation of your TPM's to be sure both are set properly and are reading the correct wheels on your dash.

In my experience Discount will do this for free unless you have malfunctioning TPM's which they can replace at a charge to you. Tirre Rack may do the same thing but I don't have any personal experience with them.

Of course you can go to the dealer and have them do the same thing.... In the end its your choice but I wouldn't want to drive around too long on tires that are inflated at 51lbs and should be set at 28-30 lbs.
