: Aftermarket supercharger?

Couldn't afford an 06, so I bought an 04 last year. I really wish I had more power and wondering if there is anyone making bolt-on superchargers for the non-V XLR's?

I know there was an STS-V supercharger on EBAY a few weeks back. Off the cuff, I would say this would work, but you'd probably have to get new fuel injectors or the ones from the V. You would definitely have to get the car tuned. I've seen some wrecks on EBAY. Call around, you might be able to find a stock set up (i.e. SC, Intercooler, Pump, and Injectors). OH! You need to change the hood. SC won't fit under stock XLR hood (pre-08?)

The V has a 4.4 liter engine verses 4.6 for standard XLR. Also the V has a lower compression ratio I think. Doug-J

Correct, 2 different engines, but even if that did work, it sounds like the expense/problems involved I'd be smarter to sell my 04 and buy a 06-V :(

FWIW: I agree. I recently followed this strategy and felt that it was definitely worth it.

The motors are built for the supercharger and do have lower compression pistons and the ECM is loaded with code specific to the proper performance of the engine.

A possible alternative for you to consider (but expensive) would be for you to talk with the folks at D3 Cadillac. They do a real good job of improving performance on both the XLR and the XLR-V. there are several packages available at the lower price points that may suit your needs. If not they have the ultimite solution as well.

Please let us know what you decide and how your project comes out.

I can't look at the D3 site - makes me want to spend money I don't have.

Besides, most of what they offer is for 06 and newer, which brings me back to I should've bought one in the first place ..............

I agree. The used market may be just right if you decided to make a jump. The 04's clean are going for the low to mid 20's. So if you were after a 06 "V" they are going for $40-$45k. So with about $15-$20k you will be in business.

Good hunting...
