The factory warranty for my 2005 expired 6/02/2009. GMPP told me I had to enact the extended warranty two months prior to the expiration date which I did. It was a 4yr/48K mile warranty with a $100 deductable which takes me to 73,000 miles for $2,400. That was after I shopped it online since my local dealer wanted $3,500. However, I was told yesterday that to obtain a "certified status", the car has to be inspected but is much cheaper than GMPP warranty, has no deductable and goes to 100,000 miles. I can cancel the GMPP warranty and get a pro-rated refund but can anyone tell me who to speak with about getting "certified". I am hesitant to talking to my local dealer or the dealer I got the warranty through since neither of them mentioned getting "certified" was an option...Thanks..

The Cadillac Certification must be done at the time of sale at the Cadillac dealer. It is not the GM Major Guard (Only one I recommened). The Certification process is designed that a Cadillac dealer, goes through the vehicle and brings it up to Cadillacs Certification Standards. Once the vehicle meets those standards, then the Cadillac dealer can certify the vehicle, while it is in THEIR inventory PRIOR to the sale.
The Certification no longer covers trim components as it was being used in an improper way. It is the best possible way to get the vehicle that has been gone over by an XLR Certified dealer.
The Major Guard can be purchased up to the expiration of the base 4/50 on any GM vehicle.
For those whom believe they purchased a new vehicle from a dealer that maybe had more than 50 miles on it,I would ask your dealer for a copy of your ISD or In service Date, so you don't think your warranty started the day you took delivery.

Thanks for the info...I did choose the Major Guard plan through GMPP so I'll just stick with that. For any of you looking for a GMPP warranty, I want to let you know there is a price increase in excess of $24,000 miles. When I bought the warranty, the mileage was 24,300 miles and I had to pay a $800 premium since it was over 24,000 miles. I wish my local dealer had mentioned that.
