Hi,
Does anyone know if the power windows express down/express up feature on the XLR are controlled by a standalone module or by the body control module on the car?
I'm looking to retrofit express down/express up into an older car, and I prefer to use GM parts to do it.
Any help would be very much appreciated,
Thank you,
Mike

All window functions are controlled by their respective door modules which interface with the Body Control Module on the Class 2 data bus. The door modules also contain integrated window motors. When an Express Up/Down command is initiated from the Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA), a command is sent via the serial bus to the Driver Door Module (DDM) which actuates the Window Motor Driver. The Folding Top Module can control the window Express Up/Down feature via the data bus during Folding Top operations. The XLR also has a window indexing funtion that is actuated when the doors are opened/closed.
I don't mean to rain on your parade, but . . . The XLR has the most advanced data communication system of any vehicle on the road today. It would be cheaper to pay someone to ride with you and operate the windows rather than spend the time and money to re-engineer/retrofit this function to another vehicle using XLR parts. There are easier cars to use parts from to do this. The XLR isn't one of them. Good luck.
