08 V. Corsa Exhaust, D3 air intake (full system). I am getting a fair amount of carbon on my exhaust tips. Sometimes more than I'd like. Normal?

I have the same problem... its a bit of a pain to constantly have to clean it... I thought that typically such and indication was the engine was runing a bit too rich... but I dunno.

Does not sound normal... What does D3 say about it? I assume they tuned your motor after they installed the new exhaust and air intake. Hopefully you are not getting any "gunk" in the motor as well.

They didn't tune mine. I'm in NY. So I bought the stuff and installed myself. It came with an ECM that connects at the MAF sensor. Love the system, not sure about the carbon though. OH! Deadringer, I know you have the same system. Invest in new rear couplings (2.75 inch at mating point to SC inlets). The rubber ones that come in the kit are cheap and split or don't hold the seal well. Go to any local speed shop and replace them for neoprene.

Actually, my V has been doing it even without any mods... my car has only been modified for maybe 8 weeks - so I'm certain that none of the mods are the cause of the exhaust carbon... I'm guessing it has to do with the fact I have a heavy foot... according to the DIC my avg mileage is about 9. :lol

I actually use the stock OE couplers, I didn't find any issues with sealing... in fact, they were a bitch to get on because they were so tight... AND they were a bitch to get off too because they were so tight! :D

Yeah I know! They were a little too short though, and the flexible center portion is where they leak or break. The neoprene ones are solid the whole way through, easier to put on and wont break. It took mine about 6 months to leak. Also, if you get check engine codes, remove and clean the MAF with MAF cleaner, the K&N oil/water disrupts it. One More....There are rubber covers behind the grill with oval cut outs (in the metal) behind them. If removed/or cut out with an exacto they will allow unobstructed airflow from the grill to the filter. Adds a few HP, should also work on an unmodified car.
