If you have an 04 or 05 i've learned how to access the nav while driving. In the route screen hold your finger on the bottom right corner of the screen for 10 seconds. There is a hidden botton there. A screen will pop up with about 10 buttons. push the one that says run. NOTE; do not press any other buttons. Once you've done that here comes the tricky part. The return button is under the time bar. You have to slide your finger nail up onto the bottom of the return button. It is easy once you,ve done it a couple of times. once you hit the return button you get the route screen back and you can do anything you want at any speed. This took the XLR nav from totally worthless in my opinion to as good as my garmon. in fact ive took the garmon out of the car now that I can use the nav all the time. I hope this helps some of you because it sure made my day.

Do you have to follow this process each time or is it a set it once and thats the way it will work from now on kind of thing???

You have to set it every time, but it is easy and can be done on the fly.

I asked because I may try it out in my 2008 "V".

Thanks very much for a great catch.

Works great on my 04. I've found that this can also be done after starting the engine, before moving. That's a little less distracting than trying to do it while underway.

Does anyone know what the other buttons do?

Now that the nav is slightly less pathetic, I'd love to find a few more ways of making it more useful. Does anyone know how to get POIs to appear onscreen at more distant zoom levels? I've always found it really stupid that at the furthest-out zoom level that will show poi's, the "rest area" poi starts to edge onto the screen only about the time I'm passing the "rest area 2 miles" sign.

I just tried this on my 06 #165/250 Limited Edition Star Black and it works except I had to go to the "Plan Route" screen and hold my finger on the bottom right corner of that screen for 10 seconds.

I don't know how the 04 & 05 Nav systems operate compared to mine but when I first initiate mine and hit the 'Route' button, my display shows the map screen and my present location. I have to hit the 'Route' button a second time to bring up the "Plan Route" screen.

Anyway, this is a REALLY GREAT FIND Monepit, I give you 2 thumbs and big toes up!!!
