Welcome to the XLR Forum. There are several post about what to look for when considering a XLR.
CarFax
Service HIstory
GM/Cadillac Certified Warranty for as long as you can get it
Tires last about 20-25k miles
Brakes and Rotors about 25k and then you can replace the pads if all is OK. The rotors in most instances can stand only 1 refacing. The danger is that the brakes may squeel and/or pulse when you stop.
Its a great cars with few "warts" but if you are diligent it will serve you well.
Pricing--The price for the 2004 you are looking at is a little high. I would recommend offering $30-$31k.
Check the Ebay Recently Sold section for the 2004 and the 2005's to get a baseline of what they have really sold for.
Good Luck in your search
