Hi all...new to the forum here.
I just wanted to start a thread on this topic because I searched and can't seem to find the answer.
I have a 2006 XLR with 16000 miles.
I started getting an intermittent cope on the display to Service Stabilitrak. Of course, I shut off the car and restart to clear it, but it has been in the shop 3 times in the last three months for this. In addition, I sometimes get a Severice Traction Control and Service ABS code that comes on with the Stabilitrak code.
SO far...
They have replaced the sensors.
They found something in the ABS system that needed replacing to fix this.
This last time in, they found a rear hub bearing that needed to be replaced
I got it back yesterday and today, the Stabilitrak/Traction Control warnings displayed.
I have no idea what is going on but the car is going back in Monday ...AGAIN. Beyond frustrating.
If anyone has heard of this issue, please let me know. If not, they I will post up the resolutions as they come along from the dealer to hopefully give other owners the low down.
Thanks,
Rick

Seems the wiring gets screwed up in the streering column when you move the wheel forward and back
Disengaging the traction control, and sometime the cruise control
Take back to dealer as this is a warranty repair

Hi Seed99,
Did you ever find out what was causing all your Stability/Traction Control warnings?
I also have an 06 XLR and mine is starting to do the same things plus the other day when I stepped on the gas pedal the car wouldn't go, it stayed in idle and I had to pull over and shut it off and let it sit for a couple of minutes but when I re-started it, it ran normally!
I read somewhere in this forum that someone had this last problem with the gas pedal and he removed the AIR SENSOR tube that is in front of the Throttle Body and gently cleaned the components inside the tube.
I did that and so far I haven't had any of the previouse warnings show up again but it's only been a couple of days.
Time will tell I guess.

I guess I'll revive this thread.
I also have been having the issue with the Service Stabilitrak message on the DIC. I found this TSB
2004 - 2008: Service Bulletin: Stabilitrak/Active Handling Light On,
Service Stabilitrak/Active Handling Message on DIC
Subject: Stabilitrak/Active Handling Light On, Service Stabilitrak/Active Handling Message on DIC, DTC C0710
Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SWPS) Signal Set (Install Clip in SWPS Connector) #06-02-35-002B - (10/19/2007)
Models:
2004-2008 Cadillac XLR
2005-2008 Chevrolet Corvette
with Steering Wheel - Tilt, Telescoping (RPO N37 or N38)
Condition
Some customers may comment on a Stabilitrak® or Active Handling System light being illuminated. Also, this warning light
will be accompanied by a SERVICE STABILITRAK or SERVICE ACTIVE HNDLG message on the DIC.
Diagnosis with a scan tool may reveal a DTC C0710.
Cause
The most likely cause of a DTC C0710 on a vehicle equipped with telescoping/tilt steering wheel is high resistance in SWPS
connector C202. Fretting terminal corrosion may be present in the SWPS connector due to the telescoping motion of the
steering column. When the steering column is telescoped in and out, the female terminals within the SWPS connector may
move on the male terminals of the SWPS. This movement between the terminals may cause a high resistance condition in
the SWPS connector.
Correction
Remove the driver's side closeout (insulator) panel.
Locate the SWPS connector that connects to the steering angle sensor, located on the lower center of the steering column.
Install the clip (1), P/N 19179794, into the connector. This clip will act as a terminal positive assurance (TPA) and prevent
any movement of the terminals.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform
those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job
properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will
have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether
your vehicle may benefit from the information.
I checked for the DTC and there was nothing but with the car running I ran the steering column in and out a few times and noticed the message changed from Service Stabilitrak to Traction Control SYS Off.
Has anyone performed this fix and is there a step by step guide?

That excerpt from the TSB IS your step-by-step guide. The lower close-out panel (below the steering column) removes easily enough. Climbing under there and laying on your back with the seat slid all the way back is not. With a good drop light, you shouldn't have a problem seeing the Steering Wheel Position Sensor and its connector. Ensure there's plenty of slack (there isn't much) to keep the wires from going from slack to taut when the column is moved in and out. The keeper to be installed is supposed to keep the connector halves engaged. In this case, the keeper is supposed to prevent fretting, which is surface damage to electrical connector contacts caused by vibration against each other. When the contacts appear to be open, an erroneous steering wheel position signal causes the DIC message to appear.
In extreme cases, it can activate Stabilitrac, and apply the front brakes during normal driving. I experienced this firsthand. My car started doing it during a stretch of wet weather at freeway speeds. It will definately get your attention!
If you have this condition, it's safest to disable Stabilitrac using the Traction Control switch to avoid any inadvertant activation and have your dealer check it out.
