This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! Some guy is working on getting the V1 display to show on the HUD... he's already got a prototype working on the C6 vette...

A video demo is here:

Main homepage on the project is here:

I'm trying to figure out if the HUD assembly on the Vette is different than the one in the XLR... it kind of looks like they might be. I wonder if we could get the Tach and G-force on the display if we just swapped out the HUD units...

Anybody know the part #'s of the HUD in the vette vs XLR?

Rod aka mtrocket just might know. He has access to the "crash books" and could do a look see. I do know that the software for the Vette is very different from the XLR.

The hook ups for the Vette HUD are very simple... essentially there's a plug for the buttons on the dash (up, down, dim, bright, etc) and several lines for Class2 data, VSS, etc... more info here in this pdf:

Because of that, I"m not sure how involved the BCM would be in the HUD display - which is why I'm thinking that all the HUD stuff is self-contained in the unit itself...

So if this V1 interface didn't work on the XLR, I wonder if we could just swap the HUD for the Vette unit and maybe it would work?

Actually, my parts books don't show part numbers for the HUD units... it says "For service see GM parts process/policy bulletin for the latest service information." Maybe check with GM dealer... they could find out this info for you.

Here's the part number for the 04-05's: 10349304. After that, they got colorful. There's been a few on eBay recently.

Maybe one of the EBAY ones that CC found can be purchased for testing purposes.......

That way you wouldn't mess up your origional one.
