Hi everyone my name is Jimmy and I dont own a cadillac but i need some help. Hopefully someone on here can help me out with my situation here. Ok I had no other options but to come on here since its a cadillac forum and ask for some help.

Ok i know this is stupid but its a customers car...... At the shop im doing a light conversion on a 2001 Celica. Front 350z headlights and rear XLR tail lights. Ok the tails lights have 5 wires all the same color (grey) one for ground, one for signals, one for stop, one for driving lights and im guessing one for reverse. Pretty much i got the turn signals and driving lights working but i cant seem to get the brake lights to turn on when i step on the brakes. There is power on the existing hardness on the celica chasis.

My questions is am i missing a realy or something that the xlr maybe comes with that i need for the brake lights to work. Im stuck and need help badly. Any input would help guys thank you.

Well you are over most peoples heads on this one including mine. But you may have a electrical resistance issue between brands. I would suggest a trip to the local Cadillac dealer to see of they have information on the current "draw" for the XLR lights. a lot of times a resister needsto be inserted to obtain the desired current.

There are some REAL SMART owners here so you may get a far better answer to this issue from one of them.

Good Luck.

The "turn signal filament" is also the stop lamp filament. The stop lamp switch (foot brake activated) powers the safety stop lamp and the turn signal switch in the steering column. The turn signal switch controls the left and right tail lamps as to "stop or turn" functions. US autos have been doing this method for about the last 60 + years.
